Changes for 2019-2020
We have some exciting changes coming for our elementary program for the 19/20 school year.
Curriculum: Next school year, we will be moving to a new curriculum vendor, Florida Virtual. These courses will be housed in Canvas, allowing our entire school K-12 to be on the same platform which means less change between levels. You may view a sample curriculum video for LANGUAGE ARTS and PE.
Blended: Based on parent feedback and best practices, we have decided to return to holding blended opportunities each week. In a typical month, students will attend blended 3 Mondays a month and a field trip 1 Monday a month. We will also be extending the time for blended from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm. See the attached calendar HERE.
Bus: Elementary students will have the opportunity to ride the bus to and from blended next year. We will provide more details when we return to school in August.

If we have a delay, typically the district will call a 90 min delay. However, since eDCSD has later than typical start times, we will run on a 60 min delay. If we have a delay on a blended day, we will start 1 hour late. If your student is riding the bus, their pick up time will be 1 hour later than originally communicated. If we have a delay on a virtual class day, we will run on a normal schedule.

DCSD Strategic Planning
The Douglas County School District is ready to begin its strategic planning process, and before we get started, we want to hear from YOU. This strategic plan will determine the way forward for DCSD for the next 3-5 years, and we want you to let us know what you think our priorities should look like in educating our 68,000 students.
There will be two more Community Conversation events you can attend:
PARKER – Cimarron Middle School
Thursday, March 7
6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
HIGHLANDS RANCH – Mountain Vista High School
Thursday, March 14
6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Weather Delays
With the recent weather, we thought it would be good to communicate what our general procedure will be at eDCSD. In case of a closure, we will not hold blended and our office will be closed. If it is not a blended day, teachers will have instructions on their class pages with further instructions for the day.

Packs of Hope Community Service Project
The holidays are a special time of year when everyone comes together and gives from the heart. With that in mind, we would like your help in giving back to the community. Last year over 10,000 children were part of the Colorado foster care program, many times these children are informed of a move from one home to another with very little notice. Many of these children have very few personal possessions and most of their things are transported in trash bags. We are partnering with Packs of Hope which provides backpacks full of new items for children in the Colorado Foster Care system.
How can you help? We are hoping that you will be able to provide some items to donate such as:
Books
Full Size Toothpaste & Toothbrushes
Full Size Deodorant
Full Size Shampoo & Conditioner
Brush / Comb
We hope to be able to put together 30 packs for teens ages 13 - 18 because this is the most overlooked group of kids in the foster care system and with your help, I know we can make it happen.
Using the link below you can sign up to help fill a pack, simply put your name and then the number of items you are bringing in the correct column. Please make sure that all your choices are age appropriate. Please have all donations in by Dec 20th. Thank you in advance for all of your help.
