Congratulations 2023 Employees of the Year!
Our Employee of the Year is Ms. Lindsey Keown, our METI, who supports all students and staff as our media center specialist. Ms. Keown, in her first year at HBMS, has established the "Nest" (the library) as the heartbeat of our school. Unique program offerings for literacy, STEM, and beyond have increased - there is something for every student's interests!
Our Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Maureen Hetrick, 6th grad math teacher. Mrs. Hetrick is a dedicated, caring teacher who designs creative lessons in order to engage her students and deepen mathematical understanding. A visit to her classroom will show that all students' minds are on math and their success!

Course change requests will be accepted through March 31st.
Fire Relief Fund for the Villas de Mirasol Apartments
Five families in our community have recently experienced a devastating apartment fire that has left them with nothing. As you can imagine losing your home and all your possessions in a single moment is a traumatic experience that nobody should have to go through.
The Esther Jackson Community Foundation is working with the Centennial Community Schools including Esther Jackson Elementary, Holcomb Bridge Middle and Centennial High, to coordinate relief for all the families involved. This is the only official fundraiser currently set for the families who lost their homes on March 3rd. We are committed to helping these families get back on their feet but we need your help. Your donation, no matter how big or small will go a long way in providing basic necessities such as clothing, food and shelter that these families desperately need right now.
Please consider making a donation. Your generosity will make a difference in the lives of those affected by this tragedy and help them move forward from this difficult time.
Donations can be made via the GoFundMe site: https://gofund.me/367e44f3
Thank you for your support!
LAST DAY - FCS Annual Parent Perception Survey
At Fulton County Schools, we truly value the feedback from our families about their experiences with the district. That is why I encourage you to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey. This survey allows parents/guardians the opportunity to tell us what they think about their student’s schools and the district. While we always make it a priority to listen to our parents, this survey affords us another opportunity to receive your thoughts and opinions.
The survey is anonymous and confidential. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. The survey will remain open through Friday, March 10.
The survey is available in the following languages:
- English
- Spanish
- Chinese (Simplified)
- Korean
- Hindi
To access the parent survey, click here . Thank you in advance for making your voice heard!
School Governance Council needs YOU!
The window for parents and teachers to declare candidacy for their school's School Governance Council opened on February 1. During this time, individuals interested in serving a 2-year term (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2025) will have the opportunity to complete a Candidate Declaration Form. The declaration window will remain open until March 24 with voting to take place in April.
School Governance Councils are an integral component of Fulton's charter system. School Governance Councils, or SGCs, are responsible for setting and monitoring the strategic direction of the schools.
The responsibilities of SGCs are as follows:
- Approve the school's Strategic Plan
- Approve the school's budget recommendations
- Manage the Request for Flexibility process
- Participate in the hiring process when hiring a new principal
- Provide feedback on the principal's performance
- Interface with the school's Title I committee (where applicable)
