Watershed & Ocean Ecosystems POSTER

5 ways that humans affect watershed and ocean ecosystem :
- littering
- overfishing
- Pollution
- Off-shore drilling
- Oil spills
LITTERING
Texas gives a fine of $500 up to $10,000 for littering
Littering things such as store or trash bags can suffocate seagulls and fishes causing them to die
Overfishing
If humans overfish too much then fishes much have a chance to be extinct and there won't be that specie in the ocean anymore.
Pollution
The main effect caused by water pollution is that it kills life that depends on these water bodies. Dead fish, crabs, birds and sea gulls, dolphins, and many other animals often wind up on beaches, killed by pollutants in their habitat.
Off shore drilling
Artificial reefs
Oil spills
The Oil Spill Law, enacted in 1977 provides that anyone who discharges petroleum without a permit - even a very small amount - is "strictly liable" (liable without regard to fault) for all cleanup and removal costs.
Spilled oil can harm living things because its chemical constituents are poisonous. This can affect organisms both from internal exposure to oil through ingestion or inhalation and from external exposure through skin and eye irritation.
