August 26th Dolphin Splash: Helping With Back to School Transition
Join us on Wednesday, August 26th at your child's assigned time for our Dolphin Splash event on Wednesday, August 26th.
If you did not receive the communication about your child's time slot, please email scott.long@wbsd.org

Checklist of Items for Dolphin Splash:
- Be sure to wear a mask
- Be sure your child is wearing a mask
- Understand that you won't be able to enter the building with your child
- Watch the Dolphin Splash simulation video below
- School Supplies in a bag, labeled with your child's first and last name AND the teacher's name
- Health Care Alert Form
- Medication and Medication Permission Form
- Clearly know your child's long-term dismissal plan (car? bus? care? combo?)

Parking Lot Procedures: Traffic Flow (see image above)
Please note how traffic flows in our parking lot.
- The Green Arrows indicate your route coming into the Doherty Parking Lot.
- The Red Arrows indicate your route coming out of the Doherty Parking Lot.
- Notice how there are two sets of green arrows closer to the bottom of the picture. It is important to form two lines of traffic wherever you see the two green arrows.
- Notice the yellow cross walk sign. It is important to always STOP before you get to the cross walk.
Parking Lot Procedures: Child Drop-Off Zones (see image above)
Please the green stars. These are areas where children can be unloaded out of cars (during arrival) and loaded into cars (during dismissal). Be sure to follow the guidelines below.
- Stay in your car. Allow our staff members to help your child out of the car.
- Do not park in the lot during arrival and dismissal.
- Children getting out in the right green lane (alongside the curb) will exit out of the passenger side of the car.
- Children getting out in left green lane (further from the curb) will exit out of the drive side of the car.
- Please make sure your child is ready to exit the car with his/her materials prior to pulling into the lot.
- We will have plenty of staff members on site to support this process.
Parking Lot Staff Support & Getting to Class (see image above)
The image above highlights: the path children will take to get to their class, where classes are located, and where staff will be posted to support during the dismissal process. Please note that we have plenty of staff available to help support your child feel safe in getting to class.
- The orange initials represent staff members that will be posted outside to support with the arrival process.
- The blue lines along the sidewalk signal the path students will take to get to their classrooms.
- All 2nd grade students will enter classrooms from the classroom exterior door.
- All 1st grade students (except those in Valentine) will enter classrooms from the classroom exterior door.
- All Kindergarten and Valentine 1st Grade will enter the building where you see the blue arrows turn to red. They will follow the path of red arrows and enter from the interior classroom doors.

Backpack Tags: Important for the First Day
You will receive a backpack tag for your child at our Dolphin Splash event. Please make sure you fill out the backpack tag and securely attach the tag to your child's backpack for the first day of school. This will help us ensure the success of his/her dismissal plan.
The tag should include:
- Your child's full name
- His/her teacher
Depending on the type of dismissal card, it may also include:
- Your carline number
- The child's bus number
- Details about his/her mixed dismissal plan.
