Kendallvue Community Updates
February 26 - March 12, 2023
It's Been a Cold Winter
It has been a long, cold winter this year. I can say the last two days in a row of "inside" recess have made everyone a little stir crazy! Friday was a welcome relief to get outside. As I write this it is 55 degrees and then it will snow this week. We are always kept on our toes with our Colorado weather.
Lots is happening in the next three weeks before spring break. Our book fair starts next week. Ms. Spencer has a fun skateboarding event for our 3rd-5th graders this week. Please make sure to complete the waiver before Wednesday. Our 2nd trimester ends February 28th and report cards come home on March 9th. Our 5th grade students will head to Young Ameritowne on March 10th. Finally, March 17th is a teacher work day and no school for students.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Have a great week and we'll see you all around the school!
Cheers,
Bruce Lindsey
Principal

- Why Skateboarding? What are the benefits of skateboarding and how does it tie into physical education in school?
- Skateboarding is an activity that requires the use of physical abilities, such as balance coupled with fine and gross motor skills, in addition to emotional skills such as self-confidence and determination.
- Skateboarding is self-paced with individual benchmarks, allowing participants to experience a feeling of success at all levels.

Main Office Updates
- School doors open at 7:55AM. The last few morning have been very cold and we have let students in to stay warm. Please know, we do not have supervision until 7:55 AM and Darlene and I can only do so much in the main office! Our soft start gives families a larger window of time to drop off students (7:55-8:10AM). Please drop off students within our soft start window. Thank you!
Clinic Updates
Immunization
- Here are two letters from the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment. This letter (immunizations letter) provides information about required immunizations for students in Colorado as they enter into Kindergarten. Preschool families, please read through this information.
- This second letter (Tdap vaccination) is for our current 5th grade students who will be entering middle school next year.
- Please make sure you are aware of these requirements.
- With Flu season at its peak, please remind your students about the importance of handwashing and encourage it often. This infographic (click here) has good information to remind us all about the importance of washing our hands.
Consolidation Updates
ROFTS (Regional Opportunities for Thriving Schools)
On Saturday two interview teams from Kendallvue interviewed over 30 applicants for our job openings for the 23-24 school year. We had many highly qualified candidates. Over the next few days and weeks, we will determine our new staff for the upcoming school year. I know there is anxiety that comes with this change. I am optimistic for this change for Kendallvue. Here are some of the new opportunities as we look forward to the 23-24 school year.
We will have a full time Art, Music, and PE program. Our mental health team will increase with a new half time position. Teams of three teachers in our primary grade levels means more opportunities to learn from more experienced teachers. We will have a new Digital Teacher Librarian position to enhance our already wonderful library experience for students. There are more potential opportunities as we close out our budget process for the next school year.
General information & Transportation Information from the District
- Since Jeffco's Board of Education (the Board) voted to close 16 schools in November 2022, the district has been working to support impacted staff in securing positions for the 2023-24 school year and assisting impacted families in finding a new learning environment that best fits their student’s needs. In addition to finding the right place for all impacted staff and students, the district is working with these communities to help with the transition in the fall. Learn the latest updates on how the district is supporting those impacted.

The Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention training. The signs of crisis are all around us and quality education empowers all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know.
QPR for parents/caregivers teaches people to:
- Recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis
- How to ask someone directly if they are feeling suicidal
- How to refer someone to help
The next virtual training is Wednesday, March 8 from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Space is limited so register now to reserve your spot.
