Reading Groups are in full swing!
Davenport teachers have been able to get started with their Guided Reading Groups, as well as literacy centers, focusing on activities such as word study and cloze reading procedures. Seen here is Mrs. Matricardi and Mrs. LoSasso's First Grade class working on their centers. Davenport teachers in all grades are activity working toward the district learning goal of Literacy for ALL.

Davenport Counselors Kick Off Character Education!
Davenport School Counselors, Ms. Caruso and Mrs. Errickson, held their first Character Education assemblies on Wednesday, October 2nd. The counselors held three different assemblies, to meet the needs of each grade level, where they introduced the Character Education program, along with Renaissance Pride Tickets. The character word of the month for October is Respect. Davenport staff members will be on the lookout for students demonstrating this trait so they can be recognized at next month's assemblies!

Davenport Receives Sustainable Jersey Bronze Certification!
The Davenport School Complex is the proud recipient of another year of Bronze Certification through Sustainable Jersey for Schools. This is a certification program for New Jersey public schools that want to go green and conserve the Earth's resources. The program launched in Fall 2014, and it is a nonprofit organization that provides tools, training and financial incentives to support and reward schools, such as Davenport, as they pursue sustainability programs. Representatives from the school will be attending an event on October 22nd to receive the award on behalf of Davenport.
