This may be a time to relax a bit, but remember you can also use this downtime to update your resumes and take advantage of summer work or job shadowing. The Career Center is open this summer to assist you in all your career planning needs. Come on in during walk-in hours which are updated regularly on our homepage www.auburn.edu/career.

Reaching Incoming Students Early
The AU Career Center is dedicated to working with all students at Auburn University and want to reach out as early as possible. For students who are wanting to hit the ground running when starting classes, we are offering multiple sessions of the Your Major Workshop this summer. This workshop involves career assessments, majors and career information, and an opportunity for students to meet with representatives from the different colleges and majors available on campus. This is a great opportunity to build a solid foundation at Auburn University and build relationships without new students. An optional parent session is also being offered to assist families in this transition as well. To learn more about this program, visit http://auburn.edu/career/students/events/your-major.html.
We're at Camp War Eagle!
For students attending Camp War Eagle, keep an eye out for the Career Center table during the Tiger Tables time slot and stop by to pick up an emoji button representing your feelings about your major. Presentations will also be offered including I Believe in Hard Work…and How to Find It and Your Major. Your Decision. Don’t forget to check out the Career Center information found in the Tiger Transitions booklet and stop by with any questions you may have while on campus.
Staff Spotlight
Karla Kirkemo
When you call our office or swing by for a walk-in, Karla is the person that greets you with a friendly smile and kind word! Karla has been with the Career Center for almost 5 years, but that doesn't mean she's new to the Auburn area. She attended and lived in Auburn from 1972-1980. After that she moved from Birmingham, to Fort Walton Beach, to Pensacola, to Gulf Shores, and finally to Whitefish, Montana, where she would spend the next 18 years. After her son, Chris, graduated college, Karla couldn't resist the call of the plains. Her desire to reconnect with family in the south and get away from the long, cold Montana winters prompted Karla to move back to Auburn in 2011, where she then joined the Auburn Family once again. Her favorite part about working in the Career Center? "Seeing students enthusiastic about their futures and being able to briefly help them when they need assistance from the Career Center." We appreciate everything she does for our office and is an integral part of our daily operation !
