End of Interim Period #2

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

Teachers may begin to post their IN2 grades.

Tuesday, December 8, 2015 @ 4:00

All grades must be posted and all corrections final.

Friday, December 11, 2015

Interims will be available in ParentVue.

  1. Make sure you are posting grades for Interim 2
  2. Effort and two comments should be entered for each student.

Please make sure that you have carefully checked your posted grades. You can make any necessary changes until 4:00 PM on Tuesday. MAKE CERTAIN THAT YOU MEET THE DEADLINE! At that time, I will run a report to see if there are any “blanks”. Remember I can only see if there is anything missing. I cannot verify the accuracy of your grades. I will let you know if there is anything you need to fix.

The grades and comments that you have entered and posted will appear on the student interim reports. Grades for the Interim will allow ineligible students to become eligible, but it will not make them ineligible.

Don't Forget!

The safety of WCPS staff and students is of utmost importance. That’s why we’re pleased to offer two SafeSchools “Policy Course” online trainings related to new policy and/or guidelines. Each document will take about 5 minutes to read. Please log into your SafeSchools online training, complete each policy course listed (there are two), and sign off that you have completed each of them no later than December 31, 2015. Completing the course is simply reading the policy; there are no questions to complete.

The course titles include:

  • WCPS Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse and Child Neglect Policy; and
  • WCPS Allergies, Food Modifications, and Special Diets Guidelines.

If you have any questions, please contact Terri Baker (bakerthe@wcps.k12.md.us or X68784).

Thank you!

Tardies to Class

Some teachers have recently asked for support in dealing with students who are chronically late to class, and I can certainly see why lately - just after the bell, the halls are often still milling with the same ol' characters.

I searched our handbooks and found a very concise consequence protocol in our BHS Student Planner (most of us might not have thought to go looking there, so here you go):
      • 1st offense: verbal warning

      • 2nd: individual talk (teacher/student)

      • 3rd: confirmed parent notification by teacher

      • 4th: teacher-assigned lunch detention to AI & parent notification

      • 5th: 2 teacher-assigned lunch detentions to AI or 1-hour after school detention, & parent notification

      • 6th+: referral to AP
Additionally, our admin team, Michelle, Emily, and myself have committed to being in halls more between classes to move folks along in a timely fashion.

Also, Sherry found these two helpful articles:
