What IS The Black Cat Chronicle? And Just What is the SFST?
The Black Cat Chronicle is a monthly newsletter intended to share information and resources that apply to middle school parents and students in particular. We try not to make it too long, so that you can read it in just a few minutes, we will have a lot of linked information.
The Student Family Support Team consists of LTMS' two school counselors, Mr. John Viera and Ms. Lolita Cartwright. Our mental health therapist/social worker, Ms. Kay Jackson and our Family Resource and Youth Services Center coordinator is Ms. Takara Jones.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month
Talk About Bullying At Home
Parents and caregivers you can talk with your children about their school and digital life, and the many roles children can play in bullying. By asking open-ended questions, you can talk about your children’s experience and communicate expectations about appropriate behavior – in person and in their digital world. Parents are the primary role models for their children, and when they model the behavior they expect from their children, they teach through actions.
Attention 8th Graders!
Specialized Academic Opportunities
The window to apply for magnet schools, gifted & talented programs, and other specialized academic opportunities (for the following academic year) closes at midnight Oct. 7.
Notification: All applicants will get word in mid-January that they are either accepted, wait-listed, or declined. If your family does not hear anything by the end of January, please email the New & Innovative Programs Office.
LTMS begins Second Step- What is it?!
LTMS began using the Second Step character lessons on September 17, 2021. Please watch the video to to learn more about it.
LTMS CELEBRATES VETERANS DAY
We would like to take the opportunity to honor the service and sacrifice of those service members in our students’ lives. Please take a moment and complete the Google Form if your student has a Veteran in their life.

The Dinner Table Project
Ms. Jones and the Youth Service Center presents The Dinner Table Project (DTP). Our first DTP will be in November, keep an eye out for more information. Please click the picture for more details about this new program.

2021 LTMS Health Fair
The FRYSC will have a health fair this month! We will have 5 different booths from the University of Kentucky, as well as booths about heart disease, diabetes, as well as the school's Healthy Kids Clinic and many others.

Free and Reduced Lunch Application
While all students are able to receive school meals at no charge for the 2021-22 school year, it is still important that families who would qualify (Free/Reduced) meal assistance, to fill out an application every school year.
