Barrington Giving Day 2021
Barrington Giving Day is a community non-profit organization designed to distribute needed items like coats, mittens, hats, toys, books and food for a holiday meal to needy district students and their families. Because Giving Day is held at Station, staff and students have a long time investment in supporting this tradition. Funds raised by Station students and staff are designated for the purchase of gifts for middle school aged children. (For more information see: http://www.barringtongivingday.org/ )
At Station, we encourage students to “Be a Part by Taking Part”. Between now and December, there will be many ways in which students can volunteer to help prepare for Barrington Giving Day. Please encourage your child to listen for student announcements about developing and participating in fundraising events, or bringing needed items for the book drive or winter wear drive.
If you have any questions concerning Barrington Giving Day at Station, please contact Jeanne Morgan at 847-756-6494.
Thank you for your support of this community effort.
BARRINGTON GIVING DAY COAT DRIVE
Students are encouraged to bring new or gently used, clean coats, hats, mittens, scarves, snow pants or boots to donate for our BGD Coat Drive between now and December 8. Donated items may be dropped off in the bins near our front office, or in each grade level hallway. Donations will be given to families in need in our own community on Giving Day.
BARRINGTON GIVING DAY BOOK DRIVE
Please consider sending new or gently used books to donate to our Barrington Giving Day Book Drive. Books that you may no longer read or need could be passed on to new readers. Students may bring book donations to school and drop them off at the donation box located at our library entrance between November 1 and December 3. Thank you for your support!

Counselor Connection - Monthly Update!
“Community is about doing something together to make belonging matter.” -Brian Solis
Station realizes the importance of a positive school community on the students’ experience. That is why the school continually works to build connections and a sense of togetherness. Therefore, our SEL lessons for the Months of November and December will focus on the theme of community. 6th graders will reflect upon how their actions impact others and how to be a good community member at Station, and 7th graders will practice the art of gratitude by writing thank you letters to our staff. 8th graders will momentarily deviate from the collective theme to participate in Xello, a career and interest inventory digital program that will prepare them for elective course selection at the high school.
Something for you!: As you are probably aware an “attitude of gratitude” has become increasingly popular. There is merit to this and studies show that giving thanks can make you happier! BStrongTogether, our community’s own outreach program, has put together a 30 Day Gratitude Challenge for you! Enjoy!
Finally, the counselors thank you! We appreciate your support and continued collaboration. We are truly grateful.
