Director's Newsletter
December 2019
Dear Parents,
As we approach the end of the first term, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continuous support. It seems hard to believe that we have arrived at the end of the calendar year. However, this is an opportune moment to both reflect on the past term and to look ahead.
Early November saw a Council of International Schools Team, consisting of nine people, visit Ajman Academy in the final stage of attaining full accreditation status. The team looked at all aspects of the school including curriculum, learning and teaching, student well-being, facilities, community relationships and leadership. It was a very positive visit and we are currently awaiting the evaluation judgement and report feedback. The report will highlight commendations and recommendations that will, in turn, be incorporated into the school’s strategic planning for the coming years. We will share the findings of the report with you in January 2020.
Ajman Academy is also currently working with a number of school improvement partners in order to provide our students with the very best learning outcomes. To this end, we are currently working with Mr Abdul Chohan, who has been in school for several days, to look at how our technology is integrated to enhance learning for our students. He will be working closely with the school to maximise our students' potential through the use of digital technologies. We will continue to implement our school technology plan and work towards realising our vision in preparing our students for the future in an ever-changing digital world.
We are also extremely proud of being awarded third place by Emirates Transport Awards for Safety and Traffic Education, which aims to raise the level of traffic safety awareness among all groups concerned with school transport. This award, is a national award, in which 72 schools were evaluated against health and safety criteria relating to their transport provision. I would particularly like to thank Ms Ghadeer for her continuous effort towards ensuring a safe and efficient transportation service to our students.
We have had a very successful term regarding our Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) programme. Students have thoroughly enjoyed themselves developing their skills and talents in a range of activities. The "signing up" for next term's activities has already been organised by Ms Maysoon and we anticipate the same high levels of enthusiasm from our students.
The last few weeks of the term also saw our school community take part in the Flag Day ceremony and National Day activities. It was wonderful to see the students perform and enjoy the day with their families. These events take an enormous amount of time and energy to organise and require a real team effort behind the scenes. I would, therefore, like to thank Ms Yasmeen for her organisation, Ms Maysoon and Ms Ruby for coordinating the student performances, supported by Ms Azza, Ms Rania N, Ms Soumaya, Ms Majeda and Mr Iqbal. I would also like to thank our facilities team led by Mr Mahmoud and Mr Reda.
Swimming and success have gone hand in hand at Ajman Academy and this year has proved no exception. A few weeks ago, Ajman Academy hosted the EISSA Swim Gala for the 3rd year welcoming swimmers from schools in Ajman, Sharjah and RAK. During the two day event, AJAC girls and boys represented us proudly by winning a total of 47 medals. Our highly skilled swimmers broke four championships records in the 50m freestyle and the 100m freestyle relay & medley relay. We extend our thanks to all the parents and staff that supported the event in particular, Mr Burak for organising along with Mr Irakli & Ms Vivian our swim coaches.
Finally, I hope that you all take time to relax over the break and that the upcoming holidays provide a well-deserved rest and the opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends.
I look forward to welcoming you all back in 2020, for another successful year.
