January 22, 2021
Next week will be the last week in Quarter 2. Friday, January 29th will be a grading day for the teachers, so there will not be classes for students. Report cards for quarter 2 will be mailed home from the district and families should receive them in mid February.
There will still be meal and supply distribution from Marysville on Friday 1/29 3:00-4:30 pm. just no online instruction.
- Please remember to pick up the 6th grade Outdoor School Backpacks, so students will be ready for their virtual experience in February.
- Final call for all remaining student belongings from the 2019-2020 school year.
I know that with the end of the second quarter coming there are many questions about the continuation of distance learning. The district has assured us that they will be sending out communication to families next week detailing current plans.
What I do know is that there are no plans for classes of students to return before Spring Break.
Schools are preparing for limited in person instruction (LIPI). This will be very small groups of students, not able to access distance learning, coming in to school for two hours in the afternoon twice a week for foundational literacy and math instruction. Students meeting the criteria for LIPI will receive an invitation and plan during the next two weeks.
MAP Growth Winter Window Grades 3-8
PPS will hold a remote MAP Growth testing window (reading and math) for grades 3-8 from February 1 - 26.
PPS sent a letter last Friday explaining the assessment. The parent notice encouraged participation but allowed for parent choice if they feel strongly that their student should not participate. The following are resources for families:
New Statewide Eviction Moratorium
There is a new statewide eviction moratorium that will last until June 30, 2021. This means that, with limited exceptions, landlords cannot evict renters for nonpayment or without cause until July of 2021. But you must take action now if you want to take advantage of future rent relief that your landlord can access. Please turn in the Tenant's Declaration to your Landlord under HB 4401 (Unable to pay rent due to Coronavirus factors) right away!
For a copy of the declaration to sign and send to your landlord, click here: oregonlawhelp.org
