Tigers rOar

The holiday season always provides ample opportunities for us to offer kindness and encouragement to others. At Wildwood, this is one of our four core values that reminds us that we all have the capacity and responsibility to treat others well and build others up. In the weeks leading up to Winter Break, help your children look for ways to do this at home, at school, and in our community. Better yet, do it with them.

To get you started, I've included my all-time favorite 1-minute video about kindness below. Enjoy.

Warmly,

Mr. Lynch

Pajama and Stuffed Animal Day - December 2

Our wonderful student council has declared Friday, December 2 to be Pajama and Stuffed Animal Day. We encourage all students and staff to get in on the fun by coming to school in their jammies. It is important that students still wear appropriate shoes or sneakers to school for safety reasons.

Students may also bring a stuffed animal (no bigger than the size of a backpack) to school on this day. Any students who do not own a stuffed animal are encouraged to reach out to a friend or their teacher beforehand so we can have one ready for you to borrow for the day.

Wildwood Spelling Bee

On Monday, December 12, Wildwood will conduct the first round of this year's school spelling bee. All interested 4th and 5th grade students are invited to the MPR at 12:40pm after they eat lunch to take a 25-question spelling test that will determine the 8-12 students who will move forward to our final spelling bee in January. Any 4th or 5th grade students who are absent on December 12 may join us for a make-up test at the same time and place on Tuesday, December 13.

Library Volunteers Needed

If you have a knack for organization, the library could use a few volunteers each week to shelve books. An few volunteers serving an hour or two each week would make a huge difference. Please contact our school librarian, Lynda Gutierrez Lee at LGutierrezlee@conejousd if interested.

2022-2023 Opt-In Communication for CVUSD Advisory Council/Committee Updates

In CVUSD, parent/guardian engagement and participation is a top priority! Participation is encouraged through many organizations and activities. Several CVUSD Advisory Councils/Committees that support parent/guardian participation are listed in THIS OPT-IN FORM, with the OPTION for you to select any or all to receive communications from the school’s identified parent/guardian representative and/or from school site administration. This communication would provide information and updates to you related to the Advisory Council/Committee meetings. Please select the Council(s)/Committee(s) that you would like to receive information and updates on, approximately monthly. If you have students at multiple school sites, please submit the form for each school. Additionally, if you opted-in last year, please plan to do so annually. Importantly, should you choose to opt-in to receiving these updates, the parent/guardian representative for the Advisory Council(s)/Committees(s) and/or the administration will not share your email address with others. You also have the ability to opt-out at any time in the event you no longer wish to receive the Advisory Council/Committee information.

If you would like to learn more about these Advisory Councils/Committees, or other ways to get involved at CVUSD, please go to: https://www.conejousd.org/domain/1365

Front Door Security Complete

In November, a buzz-in system was installed to control the front door entrance of our school. This system manages the locking system on the front doors through a 1-way camera and 2-way speaker system controlled by office staff. The front doors are the only access point to the campus during school hours, so when you arrive, please press the button located on the bottom of the device that is affixed to the front doors and we will buzz you in.

Communication Protocols

From time to time, individuals or groups in the community will distribute information and advertisements to parents/guardians on the public sidewalks during school arrival or dismissal. This information is not affiliated or endorsed by Wildwood Elementary and CVUSD.

Any approved communications (i.e. announcements, fliers) from Wildwood Elementary and CVUSD will be provided directly from the school to you via email, or given to your students to take home.

If you ever are unsure whether or not materials are from Wildwood Elementary and CVUSD, please do not hesitate to contact the front office at 805-492-3531.

Yearbook Chairpeople Needed

We are looking for someone to be our Yearbook Chair(s). The yearbook is a cherished memory for students and families. This is mostly a work from home job with an easy to use online program that is pre-formatted. The job description includes downloading photos that are submitted to our yearbook email account, uploading and organizing them in the online program, and then plugging them into the pre-formatted pages. If you are interested, please contact Christina Arzouman at crazytina426@yahoo.com.

Health and Safety

It is important that all positive cases of COVID-19 are reported to the health office. If your student tests positive for COVID-19, we need to know in order to ensure we are supporting your student through their recovery. The health and safety of our student body and staff is a top priority. If you have any questions or concerns related to COVID-19, please reach out to our office.

Free COVID Test Kits

The district has once again provided free COVID tests for students. Please come by the front office if you would like a 2-pack at home test kit.
