Hawk Highlights
March 5, 2021
Dear Families of the Hollys,
The Colorado Measure of Academic Success (CMAS) testing window opens on March 29, 2021. This testing allows us to measure how well our students are performing toward mastery of the content of the state standards.
We have collected most of the computer devices that were issued to students for remote learning. If you still have a Cherry Creek Schools/Hollys device in the home, we need it for CMAS testing. Please return the computer and charging cord to school by March 12, 2021. This will provide us ample time to update and prepare computer devices for students to use for state testing.
As always, if you want to proactively excuse your student from state testing this year, you must fill out the “State Assessment Exemption” form located in your parent portal at my.cherrycreek.org.
You can view instructions for filling out the exemption here. https://www.cherrycreekschools.org/cms/lib/CO50000184/Centricity/Domain/1419/State%20Assessment%20Exemption%20Process.pdf
We would like to thank our partnership with the Hollys Parent Teacher Community Organization (PTCO). During such a unique year, our PTCO has been a champion for students and staff alike, partnering with us and celebrating who we are as an amazing school community. We thank you for your unwavering positive support which allows us to keep our focus on student joy and success.
Spring Break is quickly approaching! This year, our Spring Break is March 15 – 19, 2021. We are all looking forward to the warmer spring weather. We hope this upcoming break will afford families time for rest and relaxation and we look forward to students returning on Monday, March 22, 2021!
Additionally, we are so grateful to our parents and guardians who joined forces with us during Spring Conferences! Thank you for sharing your insight about your student as a learner and thank you for your willingness to trust and collaborate with us so we can provide the most respectful and dignified learning experiences our students need and deserve. The Hollys community is truly a very special place.
As always, thank you for helping to create a school community that supports all of our students. By working together, we can ensure our Holly Hawks will continue to reach new heights in their education.
Your partner in education,
Chris Toliver

Get Ready for Cherry Creek Reads 2021!
What’s your story?
Find out during Cherry Creek Reads 2021, a districtwide celebration of reading, coming up March 8-12!
The theme for the week is “Read Together, Share Our Stories Together!” and is based on the inspirational book Alma and How She Got Her Name by Juana Martinez-Neal. It’s a heartfelt story about a little girl who deepens her understanding of her own identity and her own story by learning about the power behind her name.
Just like Alma in the book, students, parents and families are encouraged to have fun dinner table discussions about the books each family member is reading, think about their own name stories and ask questions like, What does your name mean? What does your name stand for? What do you want to be known for?
Cherry Creek Schools students, parents, teachers, staff, friends and family members are encouraged to read for 67 minutes or more. That’s one minute of reading for every CCSD school. Students may also participate in a variety of special activities, from student-created podcasts, videos or posters telling their own name stories, messaging a favorite author or illustrator or schoolwide “Drop Everything and Read” time.
So, grab a book and join us for Cherry Creek Reads 2021!
Wear Your Mask
Do I need to stay at home?
Please leave your child's first and last name and the reason for their absence. If you child is not feeling well, please describe in detail the symptoms they are experiencing. For example, do they have a fever? Do they have shortness of breath, cough, runny nose, upset stomach, vomiting, or diarrhea?
Thank you for your partnership as we work to keep our students and staff healthy.
Am I ready to go back to school?
