Abraham Lincoln was born!
Abe Lincoln was born on February 12 of 1809. He was born near Hodgenville, Kentucky. His mother was named Nancy Hanks and his fathers name was Thomas Lincoln. When Abe when two, his parents took his to Knob Creek and when he was eight, he was taken to Spencer Co., Ind. Sadly though, his mother died the following year and Abe's father married Sarah Bush Johnston in 1819.

When Abe was the oath of office on March 4, 1961, he was met with a mad Confederacy determined to expand and threatening the remaining federal forts in the South, the most important was Fort Sumter in the harbor of Charleston, S.C. Abe at first refused to take decisive action. After the failure expedition to Fort Pickens, Fla., he decided to relieve Fort Sumter and told the governor of South Carolina and his intention to send food to the Beleaguered Garrison. The Confederates who were unwilling to permit continued federal occupation, opened fire to reduce the fort, and starting the Civil War.
