Virtue of the Week: October 17-21
This week's virtue has been courage, to be tolerant is to accept differences. You don't expect others to think, look, speak, or act just like you . Tolerance is being free of prejudice, knowing that all people have feelings, needs, hopes and dreams. To be tolerant also means to accept things you wish were different with flexibility and patience. Math-A- Thon is Up and running!!
Math-A-Thon is up and running and the prizes are all displayed in the display cabinets in the lobby. Students are working hard to improve their math skills and raise money for their classrooms and the school as a whole. The rockets are moving up the bulletin board for everyone to keep track of how much money their classroom has raised. This is the one and only school-wide fundraiser and 100% of the funds stay right here at Shaw.
Parent Conferences and report cards
Parent conference appointment forms should be heading home this week from classroom teachers. The conferences will be on Thursday, October 27 and Friday, October 28. Evening appointments will be available on Thursday, October 27. Report cards will be handed out during conferences. We look forward to seeing you and strive for 100% participation.
Wiggly, giggly, squiggly Musical
The 2nd and 3rd graders will perform on Wednesday, October 26 at 10:30 and 2:00. If your child has a speaking part a note has been sent home telling you which performance your child will be speaking in. Mrs. West is always in need of help with costuming and set design. If you can help please call her at 352-0552.
The Bookaneer Book fair is here!
Where books are the real treasure. The book fair will be open from 10/17 through 10/28. Ms. Denny will offer extended hours on October 17 and October 24 and will be open till 5:30. The library will also be open after the music performance on the 26th and on the 27th and 28th for Parent Teacher Conferences.
News from the Lunchroom
If you qualified for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program last year please make sure to fill out a new application for the current school year. A new application is required every year.
Hot lunches have increased this year the current charges are $3.25 for lunch, $1.75 for breakfast, and adult hot lunches are now $5.00.
