6th Grade Parent Information Night
Attention Empower Students - supply needed
Empower August 30-September 03
This week in Empower we are focusing on stressors and brain science of how emotions can make thinking/focusing difficult.
Check out this video on the Hand Brain Model (this is brain science and it's awesome). Kids are seeing a different video with more examples for calming down (getting into their upstairs thinking brain) and thinking about situations that may cause them to "flip their lid."
This research comes from Dan Siegel and has been adapted into Trauma Informed Classrooms through several researchers. Humanity has experienced a lot of trauma that last 20 months- this is ONE way we can help students communicate and it's pretty powerful.

Board of Education Meeting Location Change
With the start of the new school year, we are taking the opportunity to relocate the regular monthly Weld RE-4 Board of Education meetings to the Windsor High School auditorium starting on August 16, 2021. To access the board meeting, please use the activities center entrance (student parking lot) at Windsor High School 1100 Main Street, Windsor. As our district passes the 8,000-student mark and we anticipate the many student and staff celebrations, recognitions, presentations and community input that will occur during board meetings this year, we need a larger space that can comfortably accommodate guests and community members. Meeting agendas can be found here.
