Sunday Worship Moved Indoors Due to Weather Forecast; Online Service on YouTube
Due to the weather forecast for rain, we will worship this Sunday, November 22, indoors in the sanctuary or online via YouTube. There will be no outdoor service.
Worship will be held indoors, socially distanced, for those who feel comfortable attending. Read the What to Expect Guide below for more details. A face mask is required to be worn throughout the service and while inside the church. Please note that registration is not needed this Sunday, but will be required to attend indoor worship going forward because there is a limited number of seats available to maintain social distancing.
8:30 a.m. | Traditional Worship in the Sanctuary
11 a.m. | Contemporary Worship in the Sanctuary
If you become sick with COVID-19 symptoms, test positive for COVID-19, or have been exposed to someone with symptoms or a confirmed or suspected case, we ask that you watch the taped worship service online. Our church will use the North Texas Conference of the UMC guidelines, Preparing for When Someone Gets Sick, if needed.
The indoor worship services also will allow the livestream testing this Sunday of both worship services. The goal is to move from taped online worship to livestream worship beginning Sunday, December 6. Watch for more details in The Vista next week.
Online Worship | Watch online worship from the comfort of your home on Sunday or any time later in the week.
Register Your Attendance | Let us know that you joined us for worship. Please register your attendance.
Sunday, November 22 | Week 4 | Living at Peace with One Another
Relationships can be complicated and often fractured. The apostle Paul invited the church at Rome, which faced many challenges of its own, to live at peace with one another. Let’s take steps toward that peace.
The church office will be closed Thanksgiving week. If you need assistance or have a prayer request during this time, please contact Laurie Kunke at email@example.com.
Register Now for Angel Tree Adoptions; Return Gifts by Sunday, November 29
Help make this Christmas special for a child or senior in need through The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. Adoptions have moved to online selection. Pick an angel, shop for them, and return the unwrapped gifts to the church by Sunday, November 29. Instructions are listed below.
- Use the button below to access the angels designated for our church.
- After selecting an angel, complete your contact information and select Golden Triangle Mall as the designed gift drop-off location. That is our drop-off location to deliver gifts after all are collected at the church.
- Place a label on each unwrapped gift with the name and number of your angel.
- Place labeled gifts in a trash bag. Trash bags and labels are available at the church and during worship, if needed.
- Bring gifts in the trash bag to the church no later than Sunday, November 29.
- If assistance is needed to adopt an angel, please contact Carolyn Simpson at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will help you complete the online form.
Churchwide Chrismon Making Project
Spend a little part of the upcoming Advent season creating a Chrismon ornament to help decorate our church sanctuary. Pick up an ornament and instructions from the church on Sunday mornings and return the decorated ornament by Sunday, December 13. Email email@example.com if another pickup time needs to be arranged. Each ornament will be unique, signed, and help beautify our sanctuary this Christmas season.
Ring the Bell for The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign on December 5
Vista Ridge UMC will support The Salvation Army Lewisville on Saturday, December 5, by bell ringing for its Red Kettle campaign.
Sign up to serve at Walmart on FM 3040 between 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Volunteer times are for one hour, but you can sign up for more than one slot. Ringing takes part outside and is social distanced. A face mask needs to be worn. Bring a family member to join you. Guidelines and tips for ringing are listed in the signup details.
All funds collected stay local to support Salvation Army programs in our community. By helping raise funds through a Red Kettle, you’re a neighbor helping your neighbors.

Stewardship 2021: 66 Families Have Returned Pledge
Thank you to the 66 families who have returned their 2021 pledge. Of those who have made a commitment, half have committed to give more to the church next year. To date, the combined giving commitment is $376,260 toward next year’s budget. What a testament this is to your investment in the church, especially during these challenging times. If you haven’t had the opportunity to complete a commitment card, please prayerfully consider doing so. Church staff is reaching out to check in with those who haven’t completed a pledge. Our ministry budget will be created based on total pledges.
Support the ministries of the church for 2021. Complete the commitment card as soon as possible.
