Message from Principal David Ewers

North Community,

We had an outstanding final full week of school, highlighted by a beautiful graduation ceremony! Congratulations to the Class of 2023!! They are destined for great things.

Today and tomorrow we wrap up the school year. Please encourage you student to do their best on their finals, make sure they have all of their items (library books, MacBook, etc.) ready to turn in, and let’s have a great summer!

NEWS & UPDATES FROM SM NORTH

Students and Families:

As we enter the last few days of school please remember that you must turn in your MacBook and charger (along with possible other materials ie. books, calculators, uniforms, etc.) to avoid fines and fees added to your account.

MacBook turn-in will occur during 7th block on Tuesday, May 23rd:

All MacBook will be turned into the Learning Commons.

CAA/CTC students who do not have a 7th block class, you will report to the Learning Commons at the beginning of 7th block.
CAA/CTC students who may not have a 5th or 7th hour class will need to turn in your MacBook in the front office at the end of the day on Monday.

We need the MacBook in its case, no stickers or residue, and your charger block and cord. If there is any damage upon review (or after ICT assesses the device) we will put the appropriate charge in Skyward and those fines can be paid via our Bookkeeper.

If you have signed up for and paid for summer school/eschool, you need to come get a “Summer School” sticker in the front office on Monday or first thing on Tuesday morning. This sticker allows you to keep your device for summer school and therefore, you will not go through the MacBook turn-in process.

Lastly, It is necessary to turn in your MacBook so our ICT staff can update and ready your device for next school year. Those who do not turn in their MacBook will be charged a full replacement fee of $1,117.95! Missing charger will occur a replacement fee of $58, so make sure you remember to bring your district issued charger. (No iPhone chargers or knock off brands will be accepted) If you have any questions, please reach out in the front office.

Have a safe and fun summer!

-Mr. Jamison

Notes from the NURSE

Happy Summer to all of our students and their families!

We are sending out one more email blast to those students who are missing required vaccines.

Be aware that if you are missing any required vaccines you will not be able to start school on time in the fall.

For example: Incoming 9th graders must have 1 Meningococcal vaccine (also called MCV, Menveo, Menactra)

Incoming Juniors are required to have their 2nd Meningococcal vaccine after they have turned 16.

(Most post graduate colleges/universities require 2 MCV vaccines upon enrollment).

Attached is the state of Kansas required immunization schedules for school-based students.

You may access your student’s current vaccine schedule on Skyward.

Please review them and compare them to the required list of vaccines.

I hope everyone has a nice break and comes back ready to learn! Be safe everyone!!

Congratulations to our Track and Field team who had an outstanding showing at the KSHSAA 6A Regional Meet hosted by SMNW & SM North. The boys and girls teams both placed 3rd. They will travel with 26 athletes to KSHSAA State Track and Field meet scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 26 & 27 @ Wichita State. Check milesplit.com for meet results.

Congratulations to our Girls Softball team. The Bison defeated SM East 5-0 and Olathe South 6-0 on Tuesday afternoon to secure their trip to the KSHSAA 6A State Softball Championships hosted by Lawrence HS at Rock Chalk Park. The Bison will play Washburn Rural HS @ 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 25

The SMN Girls Soccer team played an incredible game last Monday evening in the KSHSAA Regional 6A Soccer championships. The team played a full game, two OT (10m each) and an additional 5m. Unfortunately SMW scored with 3s left in the last period to secure the 2-1 victory. No doubt the team left it all on the field in their final game of the season.

Camps: Please visit https://smnbison.com for our summer athletic camp schedule.

  • Voluntary Student Accident Insurance (Managed by K&K Insurance)
Our school district has selected the Student Insurance Plan from K&K Insurance Group to make reliable coverage available to parents. If you don’t have other insurance, this plan may be a resource to consider. Additionally, even if you have other coverage, this plan can help fill expensive “gaps' ' caused by deductibles and copays. Coverage may be purchased at any time during the school year.
