HISTORY OF MEMORIAL DAY

According to the History Channel - Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season. HELP MAKE YOUR 8TH GRADE STUDENT’S GRADUATION CELEBRATION A FUN AND MEMORABLE EVENT!!

Can you believe it? Our children are almost done with middle school! To honor their accomplishment, the Wredling PTO is hosting a picnic luncheon to celebrate. The luncheon is on Friday, June 7, 2019, from 1:00-3: 15 pm outside of the Wredling cafeteria.

WE NEED YOUR HELP to make this celebration a success! We need our 8th-grade families to donate items and to volunteer your time. We need donations of desserts, water, game items, and raffle prizes. We need many volunteers, from hot dog grillers to game supervisors. Please click on the attached link, which will take you to a Sign-Up Genius, where you can sign up to donate and volunteer: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0F4CACAD2AABFB6-wredling
