Body Intelligence Workshops
with Maddy Bortes
Body Stories. Thursday, July 20.
6:30-7:45pm @ 825 11th Street NE
In this class, we'll gather together and explore movement from every little nook and cranny we can access. Have you ever wondered what your knees would say to you if you asked? Or how about your feet or your hands? In this class, we’ll take a playful and curious approach to movement. After moving from the various components of our bodies, we’ll put it all together to create a new story, one that is more aligned with your body’s wisdom, and one that you can further nurture after class.
Body Intelligence Yoga + Meditation. Sunday July 23.
10:30 am-12:30 pm @ 825 11th Street NE
Maddy Bortes is visiting DC! A note from Maddy...
Hi there.
If we haven’t yet met, here’s some info about me.
Mostly, I help people face themselves, honestly and with a side of sweetness. I weave my experiences from the yoga mat, Depth Psychology, somatic practice, meditation, and creative exploration to offer a space for genuine self-reflection, a space in which you can truly see your whole self. In our work together you can expect to gain tangible insight into your own complexity, knowledge of practical tools you can play with to support your development and experience body resonating moments that heal.
My curiosity has opened up many doors to study with yoga teachers, anatomy specialists, bodyworkers, energy healers, and somatic therapists. I’ve been particularly fortunate to have studied with Ana Forrest, Jambo Truong, Brian Campbell, and Abby Dobbs–Forrest yoga healers and teachers who have guided my journey and supported me as I’ve asked many questions. Time spent in nature and my own healing journey, whether with IBS, depression, anxiety, or PTSD have been some of the most potent teachers. In that work, I have learned how to delve deep without free falling, how to anchor yet fly, how to inquire specifically yet remain open to the answers. Through my work with clients and my graduate studies at Pacifica Graduate Institute, I continue to develop a multi-disciplinary approach to processing complex trauma and anxiety.
