Principal's Update
1st Week of School 2020
Dear Students & Families,
Last week our teachers spent 3 days together preparing for this year. I am confident in our staff and our ability to provide a high quality education. We will make mistakes along the way and there will be some bumps in the road. However, we are committed to doing this well and will improve as we learn.
Go Hawks!
Sincerely,
Mr. Schoonover

First Day of School
September 2nd is our first day of school. We will kick off the year with Class Meetings followed up by getting students logged on to Schoology and "meeting" their new teachers.
THIS WILL BE A CHANGE TO THE GENERAL SCHEDULE
Class of 2024 - 10am
Class of 2023 - 11am
Class of 2022 - 12:30pm
Class of 2021 - 1:30pm
An email will be sent to the students with the zoom link for the class meetings. Please be sure students can log in to their emails and schoology before September 2nd.
Here is the link to the Class Meetings. Please be sure your First and Last Name are displayed or you may not be let into the meeting. https://hocksd.zoom.us/j/5280408729
Parents are welcome to listen in to the meeting if they choose.
Student Expectation for Live Learning (zooms)
We are aware there are some technical issues with zoom. If your zoom meeting cuts in and out, it may not be your wifi. We are working on the tech side to get this figured out.
Textbook and Material Pick Up
If you did not pick up your student's chromebook, you can do so from the library between 12 & 4 on Monday or Tuesday. Students will be expected to attend the Class Meetings on Wednesday. Please make sure they have a device by then.
Textbook and any other materials distribution will be done the week of September 8. Your student's teachers will have more information in class, and students won't need textbooks the first week of classes.
Work Based Learning
WiFi Issues?
The commons will be open from 8:45 to 3:45.
We strongly encourage students to bring headphones that work with their chromebooks. It won't work well if 30 students are listening to different meetings at the same time.
Our internet procedures are listed below.

Student Class Schedules
If you are requesting a change, please email your Counselor. Please be aware that they have a tremendous amount of scheduling to do and it may take a few days before they respond.
Brian Kimber - brian.kimber@hocksd.org
Myke Pace - myke.pace@hocksd.org
Schedule changes should only be requested for:
- Students missing class period
- Students in the same class twice
- Students in the wrong grade level class
- Students missing a class they need to graduate
- Students who want in/out of AP or Honors
Tips for Success
The first week of school is usually pretty relaxed. We are trying to recreate that. Teachers will spend time explaining their courses and getting to know kids.
- Spend time this week making sure you know the technology we will be using. Are you comfortable with Schoology? Zoom? Google drive? Gmail?
- Spend time this week getting to know your teachers. Relationships are important to us and we look forward to building them.
