STEAM Fundraiser GOLDEN TICKET Reminder
POP---Power of Purpose is a 100% virtual, pledge drive fundraiser that focuses on participation as well as ignites the imagination of our students by celebrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics! Attached is the flyer with specifics.
The school PTA will receive 50% of the profits (for student and staff activities, enrichment, assemblies etc)
Teachers will receive 10% for a shopping spree of STEAM products for their classroom!
HOW IT WORKS:
Teachers play a 15 minute kick off video
Students/Parents are encouraged to send 10, prewritten emails, explaining the fundraiser pledge to request a donation from family members or friends (this is of course voluntary). Student or parent will do this through the online personal Donation Page http://www.stepitupkids.com/KimballHill60008 on Monday April 5th
If student or parent send these 10 emails or texts and write it on that Donation page, students will come back to school with a “Golden Ticket” signed by a parent and receive two prizes! Golden Ticket will be sent home with students on Monday. This Golden Ticket must be filled out Monday night and sent to school Tuesday!!
After the Pledge, students will receive different prizes depending how many pledge donations they receive.
(Money raised by families with multiple children will automatically be divided equally between siblings. Only a total of 10 emails per family will be needed to earn each child a golden ticket)
The pledge drive will run for 2 weeks: April 5-19th. Once it’s closed, the school will be having a Virtual DJ dance party to celebrate hosted by POP during school day (TBD)!

Before and After Care for Kimball Hill Students- Run by the Park District
R.E.C. is a Park-District-run program, which offers before and after school care for children whose parents require extended childcare. R.E.C. is a self-supporting program and is not supported by the school district or tax funds. Enrollment is limited. This Park District program is one of many childcare options offered in the community. The Park District processes registrations and payments. All registrations, drops, schedule changes, refunds, and additional fees are billed through the Park District.
The program is structured to be relaxed and recreational to counterbalance the educational activities during the school day. We offer quality childcare with a variety of structured and unstructured activities including: arts, crafts, sports, active games, outdoor play, and games they can play with their peers, such as card or board games. Children are also given time to work on homework.
The R.E.C. Supervisor hires, trains, and oversees all R.E.C. program staff while the school district houses the before and after-school programs. Each site has a Site Director who reports to the R.E.C. Supervisor. The Site Director and the R.E.C. staff are responsible for the daily program under the direction of the R.E.C. Supervisor. For more information about the R.E.C. program, visit our website at https://rmparks.org/rec
Beyond Just Boundaries Community Engagement - VERY IMPORTANT
Since its founding in 1946, District 15 has become a destination district, known for our academic and social emotional initiatives and for leading the way in literacy and culturally responsive practices. While we are incredibly proud of the work we have done academically, little attention or funding has been given to the operational foundation of the district over those 75 years—our 20 school buildings, and how to most effectively use them to support the academic needs of our uniquely diverse population.
Our decades-old boundary lines no longer meet our communities’ needs. Solving these challenges brings opportunity. By improving our boundary lines and modernizing our facilities, we can achieve many of the enhancements our community has requested for decades, which will support our students’ academic and social emotional needs.
Realigning school boundaries is never easy. But the outcome of this process will result in widespread improvements for everyone in District 15—not just for today’s students, but for generations to come.
That’s why our community has collaborated - for the past three years - in order to develop a solution. Thousands of community members have provided insight to our district leaders and elected Board of Education Members, and together we have identified nine high value priorities for our school district while maintaining our commitment to fiscal responsibility:
Focus on Near-Neighborhood Schools
Establish a Cohesive Educational Path for Students
Balance Enrollment
Offer Full-Day Kindergarten for All
Upgrade to a Middle School Model
Eliminate the Bilingual Overlay
Ensure Equitable Access to Programs and Services
Utilize Our Facilities More Efficiently
Repair and Restore Our School Buildings
This multi-year effort requires continuous planning, even in the midst of the pandemic. We are ready to take the next steps forward by inviting the community to learn more about where we are in the planning process and invite them to share feedback to help further inform our thinking.
Our goal throughout this process is to gather feedback from the community with opportunities for two-way communication. In an effort to keep a two-way dialogue, we will have a cap on the number of participants for our virtual sessions. We will follow state and local guidelines for the number of in-person participants we will host. If you are not able to attend or are not selected for one of the sessions, we will be recording and sharing a session to ensure the whole District 15 community will stay informed.
All of the sessions will cover the same information. To register for a session, please visit the website.
Reparar y restaurar nuestros edificios escolares
