They are here!
Everywhere you look these days you can find a Cherry Blossom or Magnolia tree in full bloom. They grace our sidewalks and yards just in time for the Spring holidays of Easter, Passover & Ramadan. They are nature's annual sign of wonder, hope, and renewal. This year, we might also add comfort. Take some time gazing up under the snowy canopy of their petals. You may find yourself sharing in the feeling of awe Matsuo Basho, a 17th Century Japanese haiku master, felt when he wrote:
How many, many things
They call to mind
These cherry blossoms
April is Poetry Month and the perfect time to express yourself with a simple haiku. If you do, share it with us so we can include it in our next newsletter.
Continue to take good care of yourselves and don't hesitate to get in touch with us, especially to say hello!
Your grateful librarians,
Ms. Matz & Mrs. Tindall

Thanks to Chefs Salaam, Donnelly and Fitzgerald from WOHS's Culinary Arts Program for an easy way to fill your home with the aroma of baked bread!
Here is one of the most popular recipes The Times has ever published, courtesy of Jim Lahey, owner of Sullivan Street Bakery. It requires no kneading. It uses no special ingredients, equipment or techniques. And it takes very little effort — only time. You will need 24 hours to create the bread, but much of this is unattended waiting, a slow fermentation of the dough that results in a perfect loaf.
