Nice Work If You Can Get It
presented by Brighton Musical Theater
Michigan Premier Performance
Brighton High School’s Musical Theater program is excited to be the first group of any kind in Michigan and the first high school ever to perform the spectacular Tony Award winning new musical “Nice Work If You Can Get It”.
“Nice Work If You Can Get It” tells the hysterically funny story of a charming, ne’er-do-well, playboy, desperate to marry to keep his mother from cutting off his inheritance, who stumbles across a group of bootleggers just looking for a place to hide their gin until they can move it. What follows is a hilarious take on life in the 20’s, filled with joy and dancing and just incredible music!

Event Information
Special Gershwin presentation
As a special added bonus this year, Brighton High School Musical Theater will offer a free discussion of the works of George and Ira Gershwin following the Sunday, March 22nd performance. Mark Clague, a professor of musicology and director of research at the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre & Dance, is perhaps the world’s leading authority on the music of George & Ira Gershwin. In conjunction with the first performances of “Nice Work If You Can Get It” in Michigan, Professor Clague has graciously consented to speak with Brighton Musical’s audience, using musical examples from the show and helping our audience and guests learn more about George and Ira Gershwin’s life and songs. This discussion is free and open to the public. (Tickets for the show performance that precedes the lecture are not free!)
