About the University of Toronto
Tuition and Costs: In 2012-13, the St. George Campus accommodated 6,479 students in its 10 residences; the Scarborough Campus held 765 students; and the Mississauga Campus held 1537 students. The tuition can range between $6853 to $38,415 (dentistry).
Campus Overview: U of T was founded in 1827 and was known as King's College. Today it has 3 campuses, Scarborough, Erindale, and the downtown St. George. U of T has the largest library in Canada and is one of the best in the world. Insulin was discovered by Frederick Banting and Charles Best in the halls of U of T.
Campus and Residence: Housing is guaranteed for first-year students and range between $7630-16,899. There are many different residences where students can stay, for example, Trinity College (each college needs a minimum mark: Trinity is more difficult, therefore resulting in a higher average to attend). The other colleges (St. George downtown, Mississauga and Scarborough) are meant for the specialization of programs. For example the St. George Campus specializes in Engineering and Sciences.
Meal Plan: There are a variety of meal plans available for students consisting of a Flexible Plan, St. George Plan and a New College Plan. Prices range from a $150 for a "Starter Plan" that includes 15 full meals or 50 snacks to the "Total Freedom Plan" at $4698 that gives you unlimited access to the New College Dining Hall for the Academic Year and a $100 flexible dollars to be spent on campus.
Programs: There are more than 700 undergraduate programs at U of T in humanities and social sciences, life sciences, commerce and management, computer science, physical and mathematical sciences, kinesiology, and physical education, music, architecture and engineering. There are over 400 graduate and professional programs.
Athletics and clubs: U of T's varsity sports team is called the Varsity Blues. The Varsity Blues have a variety of sports for both men and women. http://www.varsityblues.ca
There are also 800 U of T clubs and there are 87 Engineering clubs.

About Engineering Science at U of T
About the Program:
Engineering Science is an exceptional program which provides students the abilities to work in a wide range of fields. Many of the top students from around the country and the world attend this program because by attending, those students will help create relationships with others and also become some of the best candidates for future jobs. Engineering Science is extremely academically demanding, as the program focusses on developing student's mathematical skills, science skills and engineering science skills. The Engineering Science program has a special "2+2" curriculum. The first two years of the program would ensure students receive a 2 year foundation in both engineering and science. The following 2 years would focus on the student's selection of a one of the 8 Majors (Aerospace, Biomedical, Electrical and Computer, Energy Systems, Infrastructure, Mathematics, Statistics and Finance, Nano-engineering or Physics.Admission Requirements: Engineering Science requires grade 12 students to take
- English (ENG4U)
- Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U)
- Chemistry (SCH4U)
- Physics (SPH4U)
- Advanced Functions (MHF4U)
- One additional U or M course
- Proof of English Facility
Minimum Application Averages: High 80s to lows 90s when applying for Engineering (to be competitive students should aim for higher). University of Toronto also wants to see if you are a well-rounded student, as they take co-curriculars/interest in to account. They are interested in your activities and achievements which display the qualities of leadership, dedication and overall excellence.
Is there a Co-op Program available? At U of T engineering there is a separate program called PEY (Professional Experience Year). Engineering students have an option of completing 12-16 months paid work and the average salary for participating in the PEY program is $45,000. PEY is an optional program, but for those who take full part in it will find it is easier to find employment once graduated (in a field they like).
