Job Responsibilities
Need to know how to use the medical equipment and make sure the patient is properly placed to get a clear image.
Need to be able to talk to patients because you will be the first person to tell them about their medical condition.
Different kinds of sonographers:
Musculoskeletal Sonographer
Specialize in creating images of muscles, ligaments, tendons and joints
Neurosonographer
Specialize in the nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord
Abdominal Sonographer
Specialize in capturing images of the abdominal cavity, including nearby organs like the kidney, liver, and pancreas
Job Qualifications
2 year associates degree in sonography
Most have an undergraduate degree in math or science
Curriculum includes anatomy, physiology, instrumention, etc.
