SOCIAL MEDIA FOR BUSINESS
NEW MARKETING TOOL
What is the name of your social networking site and what features does it have that are useful for business?
Overall Facebook is limited in growing a business. Current customers and friends can like your page, but "likes" don’t always equal more business. If you do have a Facebook page, you can link your business website to Facebook. You can promote your page for various plans and schedules to gain visibility. People who like your page can share your posts and your business could possibly gain new customers.-Choose one feature that is useful for businesses. Explain how businesses can get started in using that feature. For example, if you are researching Facebook, how do businesses advertise on the site?
Using ads, you can direct potential customers to a target audience and Facebook will match your target with Facebook members. Ads can be set up by budget, scheduling (how often or when), and remarked to website visitors by clicking on the link.
What advantages does this social networking site offer for business? (Be specific to your chosen site.)
You can choose your audience and you can set your budget, or Facebook will do it for you. It is a low-cost option for advertising. Customers can engage with your business.
What disadvantages does this social networking site have for business? (Be specific to your chosen site.)
A lot of people on Facebook are there to socialize and are not interested in ads. If you have a fan base, those are the main people who will be interested in anything you post to your page or advertise. There is also a lot of spam and negative comments could hurt your business.
Share your experience with your team.
My brother tried using Facebook for one of his businesses. It provided him with a few customers, based on friendships on Facebook. Other than that, I think you have to depend too much on friends for new businesses or smaller businesses.
Share your experience with your team.
I found Twitter easy to create a profile. You are able to start following anyone immediately. It is easy to create groups. Adding content such as quick Tweets, photos and links is also easy!
Share your experience with your team.
At LinkedIn I have had the unique opportunity to work with people that are incredibly smart, hard working, and know how to have fun while getting their work done! LinkedIn invests in their employees, but especially strong leadership who exemplify our culture and values.
What is the name of your social networking site and what features does it have that are useful for business?
LinkedIn is perfect for you if you want to expand your connections professionally or if you have a company seeking to make business connections to reach potential new clients and employees. According to (Tucker, 2011), LinkedIn functions to broaden the scope of shared information, which includes work history and also educational background.
What advantages does this social networking site offer for business?
LinkedIn basically serves as your online active resume. You can use LinkedIn to talk about what you're working on and explain more about your business. As with all social networks, with LinkedIn you need to update your profile and join groups related to your business and other groups you might be interested in participation.
- Choose one feature that is useful for businesses. Explain how businesses can get started in using that feature.
Using LinkedIn as a marketing strategy can be a good idea. If you have a small business and you have the time to learn to use it, it's perfect; but if that is not the case, you can hire someone to track your LinkedIn account often.
What disadvantages does this social networking site have for business?
LinkedIn is not perfect for every business. You have to make sure LinkedIn is the right social network for you and your business. In the beginning, you won’t see very many results, but as you build your group and interact with more people, you will see that LinkedIn is a perfect tool for marketing.
One of the many benefits of using LinkedIn for your business is that you have the option to advertise your company for free. Sometimes LinkedIn will give you the option to advertise your company for free (for one month), but it is still a very good opportunity to take advantage of and use for your own benefits.
The name of my social networking site is Twitter.
Twitter is a short message communication tool that allows you to send out messages (tweets) up to 140 characters long to people (followers) who subscribe to you.
How Twitter Is Unique
In the social media world, Twitter falls into the category of microblogging tools because of the short, disconnected messages it distributes. Other microblogging tools include Tumblr, FriendFeed and Plurk.
Twitter has the following features useful for business:
1. Connecting with customers
2. Branding
3. Customers feedback
4. Marketing
5. News
6. Give away coupon codes and promotions
7. Twitter is Viral
8. Spying on competition
9. Increase Sales
10. Brand loyalty
Choose one feature that is useful for businesses. Explain how businesses can get started in using that feature. For example, if you are researching Facebook, how do businesses advertise on the site?
I chose connecting with customers.
Your Twitter experience is defined by whom you follow, not by who follows you. Pay attention to your follow choices to give yourself a great Twitter experience.
In general, start following people in these categories:
- Your customers
- Your business partners, suppliers, contractors and vendors
- Your competitors or peers
- Trade organizations or professional organizations for your industry
- Businesses in your neighborhood
- Businesses run by people you know (your professional network)

· Twitter is addictive. It is very easy to get distracted by all of the conversations.
SNAPCHAT
The name of my social networking site is Snapchat:
Snapchat is a fun messaging application for sharing great moments. You can take a photo or videos, add a caption or doodle, and send it to a friend. You can also add it to your story to share with some or all of your friends. Friends can view your snaps for up to 10 seconds, and then they disappear. Snapchat is perfect for real-time social media marketing because it can give the audience direct access to live events.
Choose one feature that is useful for businesses.
The feature that allows you to market your product in snapchat is called InstaBRAND.
InstaBrand is dedicated to bringing the human element back into advertising by empowering individuals to create, share, and engage. Their mission is to scale the storytelling process through efficiency, quality, and transparency for both advertisers and storytellers.
What advantages does this social networking site offer for business?
Snapchat is perfect for all kinds of marketing campaigns including:
- Behind-the-scenes look at how your products are created.
- Introductions to the employees that make your business run.
- Quick tips and advice relating to your expertise or products.
- Special reviews of your products that only your friends (i.e. followers) get to see before launch.
- Coupons and giveaways.
- Share slice-of-life stories and happenings in your business, especially if they’re funny visually.
What disadvantages does this social networking site have for business? The downside of marketing in Snapchat is that building your following is difficult, as you can’t browse other people’s updates as you do on other social media networks. The key to success here is to drive people to Snapchat where they can become your friend.
