Sheriff George Corwin was the High sheriff of Essex county during the time and place as the Salem Witch Trials in 1692. He was married and He was in charge of sending arrest warrants to arrest those who were accused.
He also hung Bridget Bishop after she was accused and her trials. His presence was also requested at the toucher and trials of Giles Corey, an 81 year old man who was married to Martha Corey(another accused witch). Corey died when Corwin crushed him to death with heavy rocks.
Corwin was also responsible for raiding the houses of the accused who were in jail. He stole anything from silver and gold to Bone China to even livestock. Philip English was afraid that him and his wife were going to be accused that they fled to Maine. While they were gone Corwin broke into there house and stole everything. The stole all boats in his harbor all livestock and just about everything they owned. He became really rich but no one can know or else they would turn him report him to the king.
People hated Corwin. They didn't like him because he was the person to kick them out of there house and arrest their loved ones. He would also tourcher their children. He would tie them up to a wood pole stuck in the ground for several days and then they would be his servants. Today corwin is dead. He died of a heart attack. He was 30 years old when he died. His family was forced to give most of the things he stole back but they still kept most of it.
Overall Corwin was a liar to the king, which would be considered treason, and to everyone in Salem town and Salem village. He was a bad sheriff and he was considered cursed. When he was at the hanging of George Burroughs, Burroughs supposedly cursed him and then cursed the whole town. Then after 4 years Corwin died of a heart-attack which was really surprising because he was still young.
