Marie Murphy School - All Systems Go!
The staff has also been hard at work to ensure that we have been able to hit the ground running. Ms. Grandys and Ms. Berryman were instrumental in helping coordinate delivery and distribution of our first-ever student supply ordering experience. Our technology department of Ms. Haugeberg, Ms. Lane and Mr. Furman worked diligently to execute a laptop distribution that occurred earlier this year than ever before. Ms. Stotz had the ITC open and ready for business. Bus evacuation and fire drills have been held and classroom safety discussions have taken places in all classes. Parent Orientation evening took place the second day of school. Our girls volleyball teams, cross country teams and soccer teams have all been practicing hard and competing against other township schools. Student Council is busy planning our first event - the Halloween Dance! Our Roots and Shoots Club has conducted their first beach clean up the year and celebrated United Nations International Day of Peace.
Academically, the students have been working hard as well. The average 6th and 8th grader has over 50 grades in PowerSchool while the average 7th grader has over 60! That's a lot of work in (at the time of my writing this) 15 days of school! And happily, for the vast majority of students, their work has been of high quality!
All in all, it's been a great start to the school year! Excellent starts don't happen by accident. Rather, it is the result of all stakeholders working in harmony with each other. Our staff is prepared, our students are enthusiastic and you, our dedicated parent community, is supportive!
A huge and heartfelt "Thank You" to everyone who has made these first few weeks a success!

You Should Know...Sir Kenneth Robinson
As a vehicle to achieve those recommendations, I'll be authoring and sharing a "Marie Murphy Chronicles" with you every few weeks. In each of these newsletters, I'll include a "You Should Know..." section that address some of the more substantial topics that the committee requested be a part of principal communication.
For our first newsletter of the year, I wanted to highlight the educational ideals of educationist Sir Kenneth Robinson. His witty, funny, and endearing views on education are popular viewing material on Ted Talks and align well with my own personal beliefs on what education should aspire to be. Please check out some of his most popular talks below!
