JOB DESCRIPTION
MS English Language Arts/Elective Teacher
Department: Middle School
UNION EXEMPT: No
REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal
WORK DAYS: Full time, school year
DUTIES:
1. Provides for high quality instruction in English Language Arts and component skills.
2. Provide for engaging and meaningful instruction in History and Social Studies.
3. Support ELA PLC as active member.
4. Develop and teach intervention mini-courses for intervention block students solve learning gaps.
5. Maintain accurate student files.
6. Appropriate certification for ELA and Social Studies.
7. Complete required records in a timely manner.
8. Support the grade level team efforts for homeroom and student success.
9. Support and develop partnerships with parents for excellence and achievement.
10. Collaborate with grade level teachers to coordinate coherence of instructional program.
11. Participate in relevant trainings that are offered.
12. Tutor students individually and in small groups.
13. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
14. Demonstrate professional behaviors in action and appearance at all times.
15. The ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
16. Other duties as assigned.

1. Bilingual, bi-literate, bi-cultural (Spanish).
2. Experience in Common Core State Standards for English and Language Arts
3. Experience in data driven instructional decision making.
4. Experience in Differentiated Instruction by readiness to impact all learners.
5. Experience in implementation of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
6. Experience in cross curricular unit planning for relevance and coherence.
7. Experience in building effective relationships with students in and out of the classroom.
8. Demonstrated communication skills in oral and written language.
EDUCATION:
Must have valid Washington State certification with appropriate endorsements to meet the need of the position.
Mandatory Conditions of Employment:
Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check.
Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance.
Completion of Federal I-9, Employment Verification Eligibility form.
