Time is flying quickly! Week 4 of this grading period is beginning. Please check grades in Skyward and attend tutorials if you need extra help.

Intervention and enrichment is beginning in most classes as we approach the testing season. Students may log in to MobyMax.com to review and reinforce academic skills during STEAM U and at home if desired.

Students will be working on our Personal Financial Literacy unit to gain support in their math skills! Students will need to make sure they have paper and a writing utensil in addition to their charged Chromebooks.

Accelerated Science ~ Mrs. Irons

This week will focus on the characteristics of our Sun and the electromagnetic spectrum. Students are expected to be working on their final portfolio for the unit. Time will be given during the week to work on these assignments. Incomplete work is the student’s responsibility to complete during STEAM U, Academic Lab, or outside of school.

Pre-AP Math ~ Mrs. Justice and Ms. Gregg

  • We will continue with Unit 4 this week. Students will use the order of operations to simplify expressions with exponents.

    There will be a Module 10 quiz on Wednesday over exponents, prime factorization, and order of operations.

    Students will begin to write algebraic expressions and use models to decide if expressions are equivalent on Thursday and Friday.

  • STEAM Math ~ Mrs. Justice

    This week we will begin working on Unit 4. This unit covers Expressions, Equations, and Relationships. This week, we will be studying exponents, prime factorization, and order of operations.

    There will be a Module 10 quiz on Friday over exponents, prime factorization, and order of operations.

    Accelerated Math ~ Mrs. Fisher (Whitfield)

    • Students will continue our geometry unit with Dilations.

    • We will also discover algebraic representations of transformations and dilations.

    • We will have a test over Transformations (translations, reflections, and rotations) and Dilations on Friday, February 3.

    Humanities ~ Mrs. Moore, Ms. Lindamood, and Mrs. Strother

    • Test Monday on Europe in World Cultures.
    • Books will be issues Monday for literature circles.
    • Reading assignments and discussion groups will begin Tuesday.

    Art ~ Mrs. Beam

    We will continue working on our Impressionism, Biomes, and Oil Pastels unit. Students will complete landscape drawings and write Artist Statements.

    Reminder: The STEAM Art Show is March 3rd from 6-7:30 in the STEAM Cafeteria. Student artwork will be for sale for $35 each. These pieces will be professionally framed and matted, ready to hang! Funds will go to the Art program at STEAM.

    Video assignments are back now that our solo contest has concluded. Please check classroom for specifics for your instrument.
