AGCS Senior Celebrations
Congratulations to the Class of 2021
Dear AGCS Class of 2021,
For over a year now, the COVID-19 pandemic has redefined and reshaped graduates' last year of high school. In March 2020, campus closures upended students' lives, forcing you to finish your junior year virtually. As a senior this year, you face a similar fate, as the pandemic continues to prevent you from enjoying the typical senior year traditions.
We understand that your commencement is a milestone event that you and your family have been looking forward to attending since you started high school four years ago. Graduating high school is a symbol of a new chapter and the culmination of years of classes, tests, projects, school events, and making lifelong friendships. It’s an emotional time for anyone going through this rite of passage, but for you, the grads of 2021, it comes with a heightened sense of emotion and feelings of disappointment. Graduation during a pandemic looks different than our typical ceremony, but we hope you see we are committed to building new traditions and memories during this time. Last year’s graduation was extraordinary, and we expect this year will be the same for you.
We know that some of you missed the opportunity to attend prom due to COVID and the need to quarantine, which was disheartening. We have learned from this experience and have put safeguards in place to allow students to quarantine if they are not vaccinated. We also planned some fun surprises, all of which are outlined in the timeline below.
Today we are kicking off the festivities by decorating your porches, doors, and lawns to celebrate YOU, the Class of 2021! We are looking forward to capturing the moments during our home visits and will be sharing the pictures with you. Over the next couple of weeks, we ask you to take a few minutes to email pictures of your home celebrations, lawn signs, graduation gowns, and lit-up homes to socialmedia@agcharter.org.
Thank you for choosing AGCS for your high school experience. We are all very proud of you!
Forward Together,
Mrs. Bishop, Dr. Maitland, and Mrs. Smith
