The Rockville Times
DECEMBER 2019
A Note from Mrs. Czapla:
It’s a wonderful time of the year! There are many exciting events at RHS this month, such as our theater presentation of A Murder Mystery, and our Winter Concert! We hope you will join us!
We would also like to invite students, parents and the community members to our playoff football game on Monday evening (December 9th) at 6:30 pm at Simsbury High School. Any students interested in taking the fan bus should see Mr. Farrell in the athletic office during school on Monday. The bus will be leaving RHS at 5:30 pm. This is such an exciting time not only for Rockville High School, but for us as a community! We are proud of our young men, cheerleaders and band students as they have represented RHS well this year.
Our next Parent Advisory will be held on Wednesday, December 11th at 6:00 pm. We are partnering (PAC) with Winter Athletics to bring Micah Heumann, Assistant Director of the Academic Center for Exploratory Students and Director of The Major Experience at UCONN to present. Micah will be discussing, “How Major is Your Major?” This is a wonderful opportunity for our parents of juniors and seniors to explore college planning. Micah will be presenting to our students on a later date.
We at RHS are wishing you and your families a safe and happy holiday season!

School Counseling
The School Counseling Department (Grades 6 – 12) has been working hard in creating a new strategic plan for Vernon Public School students. This included updating our department mission statement, vision, and belief statements.
We are inviting all parents to fill out a comprehensive needs assessment survey. This survey will assist us in identifying student needs, help us prioritize our time and resources to high need areas, and set priorities for our curriculum and small groups.
The link to the survey is below, please fill out one survey for each of your students in grades 6 – 12 by Sunday, December 1, 2019.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey to best prepare our department to serve you and your students.
