SHIELD Testing (Change in Date Week of: 12-13) - Please Read
Wilmot will hold our weekly Shield testing the week before winter break, on Monday, December 13. This will replace the testing originally scheduled for Thursday, December 16. If you are planning to opt your child out of testing for December 13 please do so by 8:00 am on Friday, December 10. Click here to fill out the required Google Form to opt students out of SHIELD testing.
As a reminder, we SHIELD tested yesterday, December 2nd, and results may not come in until the early hours of Saturday. Please continue to be diligent as you head into the weekend in the event that your child tests positive. Due to increased testing volume across Illinois, DPS109 now receives SHIELD results within 48 hours.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO FILL OUT THE SHIELD CONSENT FORM please
log in to Skyward/Family Access and it should appear as a green box next to your child’s name. Contact Kristen Neu (kneu@dps109.org) with any Family Access questions.
IF YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO OPT OUT OF A WEEK OF TESTING…
- Click here to fill out the required Google Form by 8:00 am each Wednesday (the day prior to Thursday testing):
OPTIONAL VACCINE DISCLOSURE FOR STUDENTS AGES 5+
Many families have recently chosen to have their 5-11-year-old student vaccinated.
As a reminder, your child is not considered fully vaccinated until two weeks after receiving their second dose.
You can complete an optional form in Family Access to let DPS 109 know that your child is vaccinated. This is the same form that was made available to students ages 12 and older earlier this year. Please click below to log into Family Access.
Why are we asking for this information?
A major benefit of completing the form is that if your child is deemed to be a close contact to a positive case, either in school or outside of it, our contact tracing team will quickly be able to potentially rule out quarantine for those that have voluntarily disclosed their child’s vaccination status or minimize the number of additional tests required to participate in the test to stay program.
Again, filling out this form is entirely optional. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to communications@dps109.org and we will put you in touch with the appropriate department.
WINTER WEATHER INFORMATION 2021-2022
A reminder that this week, the district sent out updated information regarding winter weather and our plans for this year. If we can predict that a lot of snow will fall, students/staff/families will be given a heads up for a potential e-learning day. Click below to read more on the district website.
TEXT/EMAIL/ROBOCALL TEST HAPPENING NEXT WEEK
As part of winter weather preparations and making sure we have the right contact info on file for you, the district will be sending out test message next Wednesday at noon. If you haven't checked in a while, take 3 minutes and login to Family Access below to ensure we have the right email and phone number on file for you. If you have any questions, email communications@dps109.org.
Wilmot's Cold Weather Information (2nd posting)
Many factors are considered when we make a decision to have recess and/or PE inside or outside. These include the temperature and the windchill, as well as the conditions of our playgrounds and blacktop areas (e.g. snow, ice or water). We will go outside if it is 20 degrees or higher and at or above 15 degrees with the windchill (assuming the playgrounds and blacktops are safe). The decision to go outside is often made right before recess or PE, and therefore, we request that all students are prepared to go outside each and every day. Please send students with the proper clothing (labeled with your child's name) including long pants, a coat, hat, gloves, boots, snow pants etc. I know that many students feel more comfortable in the building wearing shorts. I am suggesting that students wear or bring pants to use when they go outside.
PTO Corner
Holiday Shop is Back
The Wilmot PTO is excited to announce that our annual Holiday Shop is a go this year! We will hold a mobile Holiday Shop that will run from December 8-10th, so save the date. Classroom teachers will share more details about when their class will shop.
Here is how it will work:
- PTO volunteers will stock carts with holiday items that students can purchase for friends and family.
- PTO parents will bring the carts by each classroom at a designated time. Students who wish to purchase items at Holiday Shop will have an opportunity to do so with assistance from our wonderful PTO volunteers.
- Students should bring cash or a check made out to the Wilmot PTO in an envelope on their designated shopping day.
- Please send your child with an extra bag to carry their holiday gifts in.
- This is an optional activity and all proceeds will go to the Wilmot PTO.
In order for this year’s holiday shop to be a success, we will need as much hands-on support from our fellow Wilmot parents as we can get.
If you would like to volunteer your time for this much-anticipated event, let us know right away! Email juliefwaltz@gmail.com and let us know which of those days you have available.
Thanks so much!
