Roberts Middle School
Grit: Volume 3
Dear Roberts,
As Florida is bracing for Hurricane Irma, we will be there for them as other schools in the United States have been there for us. I have learned through this storm that we are not alone as educators, and we strive for a unified purpose.
This week we have to find the extra gear to welcome back our students from two weeks of no school. The goal is to bring them back to normalcy, but acknowledge that their stories matter. We will not hold our students back from achieving their purpose. Yes, it will be demanding. We have to see what our students can become even though at this moment in time it may be difficult for them to see. It is our job to understand that each and every child has latent potential, and it is our job to uncap it. Our students must leave this year with the necessary skills that will help them towards their path to graduation. That is why I ask that you hone in on PLC and the essential standards. I cannot overstate how important it will be to push and pull your students to come to tutoring, to help our students be purposeful in AIR Time, and to purposely plan for small group instruction.
Roberts, the power is when you believe in yourself. We cannot see past our own limitations, so choose to believe that you can do anything with practice. I know in this moment of time that I have the right group of teachers capable of the extraordinary. I believe in each and every one of you. Thank you for being part of this great family.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR AREA SUPERINTENDENT
I am full of pride with the story that Roberts continues to write. The countless hours you have spent in the community has made such an impact. I have seen Roberts family members volunteering at the Dobie shelter, serving students door to door, helping clean up Frazier, moving furniture at Thompson, and the list goes on! You have helped make this community of unity stronger. I can't thank you enough for all that you do! We are so fortunate to have you on our team.
