Ready for a New School Year!
BACK TO SCHOOL CELEBRATION
We hope you have been enjoying your summer break and that your family is staying safe and healthy. Throughout the summer, we have been working together and discussing how best to handle Back to School with the most care. Given our current conditions, Layton’s Back to School Celebration will be held in two parts.
- The first part will be virtual. On August 20th, you will receive communication from your child’s teacher. Teachers will share information about their class and explain expectations and procedures for the upcoming school year.
- The second part will be a Back to School Open House CELEBRATION. We want your child to connect with their teacher and see their classroom in person.
August 7th at 5pm: Class Lists will be released on MyDSD
Log into MyDSD to view your child’s teacher.
Please read and sign all back to school forms necessary to start the school year.
August 19th and 20th: Back to School Photo Op in front of our School
It’s Picture Time
We welcome you to stand in front of the school and take a Celebration Photo.
You will not have this opportunity on the first day of school. On the first day of school we will be vigilant about physical distancing as a part of our drop-off procedures and ask that parents and family members stay outside of the school. Staff members will be waiting to guide your student to class.
August 20: Teacher Virtual Presentations
Teacher Video presentations will be sent to you from your student’s teacher. Please watch for information from your teacher via email.

On the first day of school, we will be celebrating as your child enters through the FRONT DOORS. We are excited to welcome our students back!
Staff Members will be at the front doors helping guide students to their classrooms. In an effort to follow the Big 5 and keep our students safe and healthy, we ask that parents do not enter the building.
We realize things look different this year and seem to change frequently. It is our goal to keep communication strong and direct. We have attached Layton EL’s Davis Learns Together Plan for the 2020-2021 school year. Feel free to contact us with questions.
We are grateful for our Layton families and applaud your efforts as you navigate the events of this unprecedented year.
We appreciate our outstanding teachers and staff. They have dedicated their summer preparing for this school year. They want your child to be safe, feel secure, and learn. As a staff, we are hopeful and expect a JOY filled year.
We love your children and feel fortunate to be welcoming them back to Layton EL! We look forward to being with them again.
All the Best,
Melissa J Pendergast, Layton Elementary
