It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Elementary Leaders
Twenty students comprised of 2nd and 3rd graders were inducted into the Little Lights leadership team on December 11th prior to Leadership Night events at GES. The chosen members applied for the position by submitting an application, 2 references, and 3 essay questions. In addition, they were interviewed by a panel of teachers, administrators and older student leaders. While the process wasn’t easy, these students persevered and showed true leadership potential! Their purpose is summed up in the mission statement they wrote:
We are the GES Little Lights
who make BIG decisions to
LEARN, LOVE and LEAD.
Our mission is to inspire others
to lead by setting an example of
using the 7 Habits and finding our
voices.
Elementary Leadership Event
Godley Elementary had fun hosting a leadership event earlier this year. Families and community members where invited to the school to observe students showcasing their leadership skills. As a Leader in Me School, students are learning the 7 Habits of HIghly Effective People. Some of the habits highlighted included Habit 6 Synergizing: working together and cooperating and Habit 7 Begin with the End in Mind: Listen first then speak. We had lots of participation and appreciate everyone who helpded make this event successful.
