Principal Update
9/3/21
Happy Friday!
Next week we will start practicing our emergency safety drills with students. Teachers will review protocols with students in class, and then they will have the opportunity to practice. Some drills are required monthly (Fire Drill) and others less frequently (LockDown, Earthquake) Etc.
Every student will have a school planner to document assignments and due dates. This resource is bilingual for the purposes of providing access to all students. This resource is also an AVID strategy to assist students with their organization skills. Throughout the week check in to see what your student is documenting in their planner. Have them tell you how it is used in class.
Supplies Update: 188 of the 500 parents have paid for school supplies. We are ordering supplies online in addition to buying things in-store. Today, we will start assembling supply packets in the library. We will prioritize packets for parents that have paid first. If your child is in need of a School Supply Scholarship, Please fill out this form. Click on this link.
Thank you to Ms. Inman and Ms. Dunn for creating and sharing Go Fund Me accounts for the composition notebooks for LA and Math. Online orders are coming in slowly. I will look around this weekend to see if I can find some additional supplies. At the end of this process, we will assess whether or not to do this again next year. Feel free to share the two Donor's Choose link with your friends and families.

Masks: Most students are following the masking protocol 100% of the time. Please remind students to wear their mask properly by ensuring that their nose is covered.
Lunch Time Protocol:
Students are doing an awesome job at lunchtime collecting their lunches and finding a spot to eat outside. We have ordered Rubbermaid step stools for students to use at lunchtime so that they will have additional comfort in sitting while outside.
There is one thing that we need your support with. Some students need numerous reminders to keep the 3 feet distance while eating. Please remind your students to follow this district protocol. Additionally, remind your students that they can not share food at lunchtime. Thank you for your support.
Cell Phones:
Cell phones are to be off and away during the school day. If you need to communicate with your student please call the office. I have noted a number for students that receive text messages at lunchtime. They often tell me that they are receiving a text from their parent. To assist your children with not being addressed by an adult for having their phone out at lunch, please contact the office for communication. Thanks for your attention to this request.
