LGBT: Trouble Among the Community
LGBT people of all ages and in all regions of the world suffer from violations of their human rights. They are physically attacked, kidnapped, raped and murdered. However, they are also emotionally attacked. These people develop psychological disorders that may be a threat for their own lives: suicide is the most common psychological disorder that few LGBT people develop. In more than a third of the world’s countries, people may be arrested and jailed (and in at least five countries executed) for participating in private, consensual, same-sex relationships. On the other hand, there are other countries that embrace and accept same-sex couples.
The Story of Seth Walsh
SETH WALSH was 13 years old when he walked into the garden of his family’s home in Tehachapi, California, and hanged himself. Before making the tragic decision to end his life, he had endured years of homophobic taunting and abuse from his peers at school and in his neighborhood. Seth’s case is not isolated. In the same month in which he died...At least five other teenage boys in the United States also committed suicide after suffering at the hands of homophobic bullies.
