Early Learners Highlights
December 10, 2021
Dear Early Learners Families,
As you are likely aware, our playground is still under construction. Once our materials do finish arriving, it will be too cold to break ground and lay the foundation of the playground. We anticipate the playground being complete this spring, and until then we continue to get creative with our recess opportunities. The team has worked hard to create outdoor centers for students in the corner outside of our classrooms, and students have been enjoying the various learning opportunities provided. I happened to have the opportunity to be with some of our full day students during lunch recess this week at the exact moment a donated kitchen center was dropped off. The excitement and mad rush to explore the new kitchen was a sight to behold! That small moment of excitement and joy carried me through the rest of the day. I hope during this busy time of holidays, school breaks, travel, and family time, you are able to embrace those small moments of joy. And if you are able to join us for our virtual Gingerbread Workshop next week, you are sure to experience a few!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Janet
What's Happening in Early Learners?
This week the classes shifted from folktales/fairytales into our gingerbread unit. We've been reading and listening to various versions of The Gingerbread Man, finding similarities and differences across the stories. We've enjoyed multiple gingerbread themed activities such as gingerbread art projects and helping the gingerbread man cross the river with different tools and simple machines. Next week we will continue to explore gingerbread before wrapping up our unit with the Gingerbread workshop!
Speech with Ms. Nathanson
Hi Early Learners Families!
In honor of the cold and snowy weather heading our way, this week in speech group we read The Snowy Day. Everyone got to share their favorite thing to do in the snow. I loved hearing all the fun stories the students shared! After reading the book, the students thought about and answered wh-questions pertaining to the story.
Have a great weekend!
