Event Information
Author Visit
Author Chris Barton will be at NMES on Thursday, May 10th, to host an author visit for grades PreK-2nd! After studying his popular books, such as Whoosh!, Shark Vs. Train, and That's Not Bunny!, in media, students will hear him speak about what it means to be an author.
Students can also order autographed books by Chris Barton at a discount through the Curious Iguana! The books will be delivered on the day of this visit. If you'd like to order a book, please visit https://curiousiguana.com/product-category/nmes-pre-orders/.

Book Drive for Lincoln Elementary
Thank you to everyone who has donated books to our book drive for Lincoln Elementary School's Little Free Library. We have collected over 2,100 books so far! You can continue donating through the end of the school year. For questions, please email Mrs. White at renee.white@fcps.org or Mrs. Siderius at jennifer.siderius@fcps.org.
Bloxels
Fifth grade students are kicking off a research project of explorers that combines design theory! After researching an explorer's life, students will work in teams to build a video game about the explorer using Bloxels!
National Poetry Month
It's National Poetry Month! One of Mrs. Siderius' favorite book of poems is Runny Babbit by Shel Silverstein. What's yours?
MergeCubes
Have you seen this beginner hologram and virtual reality device? It's called a MergeCube and works with iOS and Android devices. Students are exploring them in the media center makerspace!
Remind Text Alerts
Need help keeping track of when your child's books are due? Sign up for the media center's text alerts! VIsit http://education.fcps.org/nmes/mediaschedule to see when your child has media and to get the code to sign up for these weekly text reminders!
Online Resources
Did you know that the media center offers many online resources, including free ebooks, for our students and families? Check them out on the media center website for homework help, research projects or just for fun. There is a link on the website that will give you all of the passwords! Just have your child sign in with their school username and password to access all of them!
