Parent Walking Pick-Up - Grades K-2
As we continue to fine tune our dismissal procedures, we are finding ways to make the end of the day more efficient. If you are walking up to pick up your student(s) in the front of the building after school, please wait in the grassy area or by the big round planter in the front. Our K-2 classes need room to exit the building, line up, and our bus students need a clear path to get to the buses. Thank you so much for your help!
Dinner Night Out! @ The Old Spaghetti Factory
Join us for the online fundraiser October 11th - 13th. Use the code for your online order at checkout and they will donate 10% of your total purchase (pre-tax) to help support Hawks View Elementary! Place your online pickup or delivery order, and Let’s Eat Out! Please click here for for ordering information. For information in Spanish, click here.
Harvest Parties
We are excited to bring back our fall harvest parties this year! Students will be allowed to wear costumes at school, however the times for that will vary depending on class. Your child’s teacher will share those details as the date gets closer. Please know that all costumes need to be school appropriate (no violence, weapons, fake blood, face masks, or face paint) and ideally something that your child can take on and off fairly or completely independently. Each class will be running their own party and will have their own party plan, but in the event that party volunteers are needed, please know that all volunteers/visitors will need to have completed the volunteer items shared below. Please also note that background checks are taking 2-3 weeks to clear so if you are hoping to volunteer at the end of the month please get those steps completed asap. Teachers will share their party information in the coming weeks!
Volunteering?
We are so excited that volunteers are again being welcomed into the building and classrooms. There are many areas in which you can support the students and staff, but there are a few steps that every volunteer needs to accomplish beforehand:
Please fill out your district background check. Remember to click the "submit" button at the end! A background check needs to be completed each year and can take up to 10 days to clear.
Download the HelpCounter app! Please create a login and check the boxes for the areas in which you'd like to help. If you already have a HelpCounter account, please update your preferences so we know to contact you when specific needs become available. Examples of areas of interest include: popcorn day, picture day, bulletin boards, Art Lit, field trips and lots more!
If you have questions please reach out to volunteers@hawksviewpac.org
Here is a link to the PAC website, which has all the links you need to get involved! We can't wait to see parents and community members helping out!
Scholastic Book Fair Coming Soon! Oct. 20th-28th.
Shopping will be during class time only, with the exception of the 27th and 28th. The book fair will be open during conferences on the 27th from 8:00am-8:00pm, and on Friday the 28th from 8:00am to 10:00am. Please click here to visit our Media Center page with more information, including how to set up an eWallet for your student.
If you would like to volunteer during the book fair, please click here. Please remember you must have completed and cleared a background check, and turned in proof of Covid vaccinations or an approved exception form. If you need an exception form, please contact the office. Background checks and exception forms can take up to two weeks to process.
Students will also have the opportunity before the Book Fair begins, to help build their classroom library by donating loose change. Please click here for more information. Please note that the coin drive is optional. Teacher wish lists will be available if you prefer to donate a specific book.
Conferences
Parent-Teacher conferences are a great opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher and learn about their progress so far this year, as well discussing areas for growth. Teachers will send home a sign-up on October 13th via email. October 27th and 28th are designated for conferences. While we understand families head out of town or are unable to attend for various reasons, please know teachers are not expected to conference at another time.
Grades 3-5 Only: Oregon Battle of the Books (OPTIONAL) Parent Meeting
Interested in learning more about how Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) works? Think you might want to coach a team for your student in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade? Feel free to join us for a short informational parent meeting on Monday, October 10th starting at 2:45 in Mrs. Conrad’s room (Room #36). The Activities Entrance doors will be open between 2:40-2:50 that afternoon. If you arrive after that time, you will need to enter through the main entrance.
