Principal's Weekly Message

May 27th, 2016

Hidden Forest is a school where educators care about your child. We are innovative and passionate about helping your child love learning as much as we love teaching. We strive to help your child learn the basics, as well as valuable life lessons such as how to be a leader and how to serve others.

Week in Review

We have had a great school year. It is amazing to see how much your children have learned and grown this year. From those first days when parents of Kinder kids shed a few tears at the shift into school years to these days when parents of 5th grade students shed tears as their children transition to middle school, we've seen them grow so much.

End of Year Class Parties

We will celebrate the end of the school year this coming Thursday. Classes will celebrate by enjoying treats, games, and play time. The scheduled times for class parties are:
  • Kinder 11:53 – 12:47
  • First 9:24 – 10:18
  • Second 10:18 – 11:12
  • Third 1:41 – 2:35
  • Fourth 12:47 – 1:41

Parents who come to the class parties are welcome to check their children out afterwards in the front office. Fifth grade will be having their promotion ceremony starting at 8:30am.

If you are interested in assisting with the treats for the class party, please contact your child's room parent.

Sunscreen would be beneficial for these events. Students cannot share sunscreen, so if you want your child to have sunscreen, you must put it on them in the morning or send it with them. NEISD does NOT allow aerosol sunscreen products, so if you send sunscreen, please ensure that it is FDA approved and non-aerosol.

Checking Out HF Library Books for the Summer!

The HF Library believes that keeping your child reading throughout the summer is so important in helping them retain the reading skills they have achieved this school year. Therefore, we are welcoming parents and guardians to checkout 10 books per student next week after school for their child to read throughout the summer. A parent must come to the HF library on Tuesday, May 31st through Thursday, June 2nd between the hours of 2:40 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., to select the books and sign an Agreement of Responsibility for the books. We will be open for late checkout on Wednesday, June 1st from 2:40 p.m. till 6:00 p.m. We hope to see you for summer checkout!

Please Note: **Students may not check out the books on their own. A parent must sign for the books, and the parent will take the books home. The parent will accept financial responsibility for any Hidden Forest library books that are lost or damaged during the summer checkout program. Books are due back to the library on the second day of school, August 22th, 2016. Please see below for more details.

Farewell and best wishes

As we come to the end of this school year, we want to bid farewell to Ms. Metcalf, Ms. Huebner, Ms. Story, and Ms. Green, who are moving on to other schools, Ms. Aguilera and Ms. Patteson, who are going to be stay at home moms, and Ms. Whitworth who is retiring. We appreciate the years of service to the Hidden Forest community and we wish each of them well in whatever the future holds for them.
