Celebration of Success Graduation Ceremony, June 21 at 8:30am
Location: Newton South High School Winkler Stadium
Student Celebration of Success Ceremony
Students and families should bring water bottles and sunscreen to keep with them during the ceremony.
Students are still expected to be at school at 7:40AM.
At 7:50 students will be organized in their advisory groups and get ready to walk to the stadium.
Please bring a string backpack to take your yearbook and water bottle with you in the stadium.
Students are not allowed to use their phones for the duration of the ceremony. It would be advisable for parents to keep their student's phone until the ceremony ends, and we will instruct students to turn off any phone that they bring with them.
We ask for your help at home before Wednesday's ceremony to ensure that students understand the expectation they are not using phones during the ceremony.
Immediately following the Ceremony:
- There will be an informal reception for all the 8th grade students and families at the main entrance/front driveway. This will be the perfect place to take pictures and enjoy cookies and cold drinks.
- While most 8th grade students customarily leave with their families, any 8th grade student is invited to stay at school in their scheduled classes through the end of the day.
- Please remember that school is still in session, no visitors are allowed into the building.
Parent/Guardian/Family Member Reminders:
- Students will be seated in the stadium bleachers and guests will be seated on the turf field.
- Parents/Family Members should consider bringing a lawn chair or a blanket for seating on the turf field.
Parking
We would like to encourage you and your family to walk to the ceremony if possible. If you do drive, there is parking on Wheeler Road and Meadowbrook Road. Please do not park in the spaces in front of Oak Hill (in the bus lane), as that area will be used by 6th and 7th grade students. Cones will be blocking access to the Oak Hill bus lane.
In addition, the parking lots in front of and behind Oak Hill are strictly for Oak Hill and Brown staff and faculty.
There are a limited number of student parking spaces available at Newton South. Regardless of where you choose to park, accessing the stadium will require walking along a sidewalk path and across grass.
If you have an issue around parking accessibility, please email Dr. Jamin Bercaw or me and we will work out an accommodation for drop-off and pick-up.
