Monday Update from Mrs. R
NOVEMBER 12, 2018
Happy Snowy Monday
Wow - this weather surprised me today! Hope you are all staying warm and safe.
If your child is in need of a good coat for winter and this is a hardship for your family, please reply to this or message Mrs. Malone at mamalone@bsd124.org, our school counselor, and we would be happy to provide that for your family.
CLASSWORK
We are working on:
SCIENCE: Matter
SOCIAL STUDIES: We are looking at Thanksgiving & Native Americans
MATH: Measurement & review (time, addition & subtraction, calendar, and place value)
ELA: opinion/persuasion writing & reading for comprehension / questioning
We are also working on our 9th list of words for reading/writing which are: follow, show, boy, came, & want.
PROJECT ALERT! Supplies needed -
Next week on Monday we will be doing a build to work on the final project for Matter. We are going to be working on insulating something to keep it cool. Please send in recyclables to help us with this project whenever you like. We will be building Monday and testing them Tuesday.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
PJ Fridays are coming!
If your student would like to help Character Council raise money for their Adopt-A-Family project, they can pay $1.00 and wear pajamas on Friday the 16th and again on Friday the 30th. Every little bit helps!
SCHOOL STORE THURSDAYS
School Store will be open on Thursday mornings. Character Council students will be working the store, which includes small items (erasers, etc.) for 25 cents, Smencils for $2.00, calming squish balls for $3.00, and posters for $4.00. If you send money with your child to participate in school store, please send a small note with it so that I know you are aware of money coming to school and the intent.
Veteran's Day
Today we are spending time celebrating and learning about Veterans and why their lives and sacrifices mean so much to each of us. Thank you to any of you and your families who serve.
Below is a project we worked on based on the art of Yaacov Agam.
