A Monthly Update for Meadow Ridge Families

Principal's Message - October 2020

Happy fall, Meadow Ridge families!

I honestly can't believe how fast the last few weeks have gone by. Having students back in the building makes the days fly by, and makes the hearts of our staff members SO full. We truly appreciate the support shown by our community towards all of our hard-working staff members, as we have navigated opening our school in such a challenging time. Thank you for your patience and grace through the last month...but most of all, thank you for sending us your Jaguars every day!

Our first few weeks of school have been spent focusing on establishing a sense of community and building relationships in our classrooms. This social-emotional learning is so critical for our students, given the unpredictable and uncertain nature of the last seven months. This learning will continue on throughout the year in every classroom, supported by our Second Step curriculum. We have also been hard at work teaching students what our new safety protocols look like in school. Students have been nothing short of amazing when it comes to wearing masks, keeping 6ft distance from others, and washing their hands! This week, we added in universal screening assessments so teachers could get a better picture of where each student is at academically. This will allow our staff to jump in and support our students right where they need it as we begin to start working on new learning in the math, literacy, science, and social studies content areas.

I am so excited to feel like school is now in full swing. While things still feel very different than in previous school years, one thing hasn't changed: our staff is here for our Meadow Ridge families! Please feel free to reach out at any time with questions or concerns...and we always love to hear our families' good news as well!

Warmly,

Robin Placzek

Conferences are coming October 28th-30th

Teachers are looking forward to meeting with families in the coming weeks! This year we will be holding our conferences virtually, using Zoom, in an effort to keep staff and families safe and our building open. Starting on Friday, October 16th families will still use Pick-a-Time to choose their conference date and time. Your child's teacher will then send you a Zoom link for your scheduled conference time. Thanks for your support as we continue to navigate our "new normal" this year!
