April Showers
April 21, 2016
This month has brought us some soggy weather so far, but also lots of sunshine! May flowers are just around the corner, and we are excited to see what else the Spring will bring. We enjoyed seeing many of you at last night's Parent-Teacher Conferences and hope that you will join us at some of our other upcoming events!

Ryu Headed to Korea
Junior Casey Ryu has been selected as a National Service for Language Initiative (NSLI) Youth Scholarship recipient and will attend a six and a half week program in Seoul, South Korea. The program emphasizes rapid language acquisition in a language immersion environment by combining in-class language instruction, a comprehensive cultural program, and homestays. By the end of the program, participants will have achieved progress in language proficiency and gained a deeper understanding of the host country culture. Students will also participate in cultural enhancement and community service activities with other NSLI-Y students and host country peers. Congratulations to Casey for this exciting opportunity!

Three LHS seniors were recently awarded scholarships from the Polish Arts Club of Trenton. Adriana Gielarowiec, Klaudia Grzesiak, and Gwyndolyn Molony were honored at the organization's recent scholarship banquet and were commended for their achievements and plans to further their education next year. Congratulations, ladies!
Play Time
The Theater IV class recently performed at the Bucks County Playhouse's 48th annual Theater Competition against Mater Dei Prep, Westfield High School, and Mount Olive High School. Our students performed two plays: The Empty Chair (a drama) and Selfie (also a drama). Two of our students received awards for the competition: Rachel Rivera for Outstanding Student Direction (of Selfie) and Cassie Coyle for Outstanding Acting in both Selfie and The Empty Chair!
If you see these students please congratulate them!

"Joey"
Photo taken by Kayla Jackson, 10th grade
In honor of Autism Awareness Month, we are featuring this photo and write-up from Kayla Jackson: "This is a photo of 'Joey,' a little boy with autism. It's very hard for little kids like him to keep still, speak, or do things that we consider 'regular.' He is staring at the box. No one knows what he's thinking. He's all dressed up for the holiday, wearing his Christmas hat. He has a little grin on his face. But what is he thinking about? What's making this little boy smile by staring at just a little box? Could it be something more that we're just not seeing?"
