Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 25th March
Happy Easter
Well done to all the winners of our decorate an egg competition
On Monday we held our annual Easter egg decorating competition organised by the Friends of Ripon Cathedral School. The theme was favourite TV characters or cartoons, and there were some fabulous and very creative entries including Minions, Finding Nemo and even Sherlock Holmes! The competition was judged by the Mayor of Ripon who had the difficult job of choosing 2 winners from each year group. After much deliberation the following winners were selected:
Nursery Ella Fisk & Jack Hutchinson
Reception Class Meredith Wren & Jonty Fowler
Year 1 Lexi Douthwaite & McKenzie Dyason
Year 2 Ella Cullen & Laurence Fowler
Year 3 Holly Paulding & Sam Jackson
Year 4 Carly Brown & George Brigantes
Year 5 Lucie Brown & Sam Noake
Year 6 Holly Barthram & Rowan Griffiths
Well done to everyone who took part and huge thanks to the Mayor for her support with our event.
Thanks also to Friends for organising the event and to Moonglu of Ripon who provided all the prizes for the children taking part.

Occasionally a classteacher will ask your child to turn back to their work in September so they can see how much progress they have made. This week I have been doing the same with this term’s newsletters. I can report that it has been a short but packed term, full of opportunity, success and exciting learning.
There have been many changes to education recently and you will be aware from the news that there are more on the way. I am proud that at RCS we remain focussed on academic success in the context of a holistic approach to learning. I am determined that, whatever changes come our way, we will keep your child as an individual at the heart of what we do, pursuing excellence because that’s what your child deserves.
Lent and Easter provide a good opportunity for us to slow down and reflect. At a time when the world is changing so fast and the news is full of sadness, it is worth remembering the importance of Easter. Whether you have a faith or no faith I leave you with the hopeful words of the Bishop of Aberdeen…
‘And the Gospel of Easter, the good news of Easter, the glory around it, is that there is a goal. We are made, each and all of us, for goodness, beauty and truth. We’re made for friendship and love. We’re made for meaning and delight. And we’re never happy till we find these things. They’re what give us life, a full life, a real life. ‘
Wishing you a rejuvenating, peaceful and fun family holiday.
