Conferences and On-track Meetings
We will still be having "on-track" meetings in October. These meetings will be set up by the teachers and will be for students that we know are falling behind academically, behaviorally, or socially. These meetings will be by appointment only on October 8th. If you feel like you need to talk to a teacher, feel free to contact them.

A Note from Nurse Kay-Should I keep my child home or send him or her to school?
Consider keeping your child home if he or she:
• Has a fever of 100.0 degrees or higher
• Has been vomiting
• Has symptoms that prevent him or her from participating in school, such as:
- Excessive tiredness or lack of appetite
- Productive coughing, sneezing
- Headache, body aches, earache
- Sore throat
A minor sore throat is usually not a problem, but a severe sore throat could be strep throat even if there is no fever. Other symptoms of strep throat in children are headache and stomach upset. Contact your pediatrician as your child needs a special test to determine if it is strep throat.
Keep your child home until his or her fever has been gone for 24 hours without medication. Colds can be contagious for at least 48 hours. Returning to school too soon may slow the recovery process and expose others unnecessarily to illness. “NASN Guidelines For Keeping A Sick Child At Home”

Railroader Station
Durand Middle School and Durand High School are accepting donations for Railroader Station. Railroader station is a place students can request items they are in need of. Items will range from personal care items, school supplies, or shoes. We would love to eventually add clothing, but are not ready for that at this time. All donations can be dropped off at the middle school or high school office. Students or parents can make a request for needed items through the buildings' counselors and must meet certain guidelines to receive a donation.
We are looking for items like, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, shampoo, feminine hygiene products, conditioner, folders, pencils, new shoes, etc.
Thanks for supporting Railroader Station!
